What Happened to Dallas Cowboys WR KaVontae Turpin?

According to a post from 105.3 the Fan on X, Turpin was seen making his way towards the locker room without his helmet. The team officially labeled him questionable with a neck injury, and his return seems to be in doubt.

The loss hurts, as Turpin had hauled in all four of his targets for 47 yards and a touchdown against the Giants. When he left, the Cowboys were still trailing 23-20, and losing playmakers will definitely not help them close the gap with New York.

Turpin’s performance in Week 2 is a welcome sight after struggling to do much of anything in Week 1 against the Eagles. He was only targeted twice by quarterback Dak Prescott but caught both for 18 yards. He’s had two rushing attempts in both matchups as they continue to use his speed to keep defenses off balance.

However, Dallas’s offense has struggled to start the season. They only scored 20 points against the Eagles in Week 1, and Ceedee Lamb got a case of the drops down the stretch. They’ve scored a decent amount, but it took some time for the offense to get going, being outplayed by the Giants for much of the day despite some strange decisions on head coach Brian Daboll’s end.

The Cowboys hope Turpin’s injury isn’t serious, although it was severe enough to take him out of a close game against a divisional rival. Dallas only has Ryan Flournoy on the depth chart behind Turpin, with Jonathan Mingo on the injured reserve, so depending on the severity of Turpin’s injury, the Cowboys may be forced to address the position group over the week.

However, the Cowboys’ offensive rust seems to have been shaken off with the number of fireworks in the NFC East showdown. Head coach Brian Schottenheimer will have to address the defensive issues, as the offense’s performance cannot be blamed for a possible loss. Prescott and the offense will have to do their best Cincinnati Bengals impression and hope their offense can score enough to keep any opponents from winning.
