The list of potential trade suitors for Justin Fields and the Chicago Bears continues to lessen with each passing day.
On Friday, the Philadelphia Eagles were officially ruled out from being a possible fit as the team traded for former first-round quarterback Kenny Pickett. That deal gave Pickett’s former team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, a third-round selection in April’s draft, plus a pair of seventh-round picks for 2025. Fields was once considered a possibility to back up Jalen Hurts and be in an offense made for his style.
But which teams look like suitors now? Fields and the Bears still have some possible landing spots.
Justin Fields Possible Trade Destinations
To recap: QB-needy teams like the Pittsburgh Steelers with Russell Wilson, the Atlanta Falcons through Kirk Cousins, and the Las Vegas Raiders with Gardner Minshew II on paper have all addressed their situations.
Even teams needing a backup have landed their help, Ã la the Los Angeles Rams signing old rival Jimmy Garoppolo Friday afternoon. But here are the remaining places that could still consider Fields, including one new surprise suitor.
Baltimore Ravens Can Use Insurance for Lamar Jackson
With Tyler Huntley remaining a free agent, Baltimore may become persuaded to lure him back if the market is slow for him. But why not get a QB who is his own dynamic running and throwing threat?
Say Jackson has to momentarily limp off or even needs a breather; Fields can be the perfect guy to spell him. The offense won’t change much with Fields being a dual-threat athlete.
Plus, on Fields’ end, why not absorb new football knowledge from a two-time NFL Most Valuable Player? Baltimore can sacrifice one or two of its compensatory picks in the fourth and sixth rounds to give Jackson and the Ravens some insurance.
Minnesota Vikings Remain Best Chance at Vying for Starting Role
The Minnesota Vikings now have two first-rounders by adding pick No. 23 through the Houston Texans on Friday. Signs point toward the Vikings using either selection No. 11 or 23 on a passer.
But the rival Vikings still looks like the best chance for Fields to compete for a starting role, even if a rookie gets drafted.
Minnesota still needs to upgrade its QB depth following the loss of Cousins. Jaren Hall and Nick Mullens both had snaps behind center with the Vikings in 2023. The team then signed Sam Darnold. However, both Mullens and Darnold have had injury trouble, and Darnold is only on a one-year deal.
None of the current Minnesota QB group looks like they can strike fear into defenses and build consistent field cohesion with All-Pro wide receiver Justin Jefferson. The perennial Pro Bowl WR even pitched the idea of Fields coming to Minnesota. The Vikings look like a team with a future heated, open quarterback competition. Fields can be perfect for that if Minnesota is willing to work a deal with a rival.
New York Giants Remain QB Needy
Daniel Jones remains on the New York Giants roster, but for how long remains to be seen.
The Giants are facing constant heavy questions about their quarterback room. While offensive line help is considered a popular choice at No. 6 in the NFL Draft, New York may still need to turn to quarterback given the continuous trade rumblings involving Jones.
Or, address the QB spot by making a deal with the Bears and land Fields.
Like Minnesota, the Giants remain one of the best remaining options for the 2021 first-rounder to compete for a starting role.
New Surprise Potential Team for Fields? The NFC Champs
That’s right. The San Francisco 49ers look like a team with a QB need — behind Brock Purdy, that is.
While the NFC champs resigned Brandon Allen to a one-year deal, there’s still an opening for one more passer to come in with top backup Darnold gone. Furthermore, think about the opportunities laid out for Fields in Kyle Shanahan’s offense.
If Purdy has to leave due to an injury, Fields can come in and add an extra running element alongside Deebo Samuel and Christian McCaffrey. He also has Brandon Aiyuk and George Kittle to throw to without always needing to stretch the field.

The 49ers weren’t mentioned before in the last group of possible suitors for Fields. But in the name of QB depth, Fields could be worth a late trade on the Niners’ end.
