Julian Edelman’s Father Frank Gets Emotional As 3-Time Super Bowl Champion Gets Inducted Into Patriots’ Hall of Fame

Julian Edelman was a legendary New England Patriots wide receiver. The team is honoring him, and his father couldn't be more proud.

Julian Edelman was Tom Brady’s go-to receiver for the final stretch of the quarterback’s time with the New England Patriots. In that stretch, Edelman rose from seventh-round draft pick to one of the faces of the team in the 2010s.

Now, Patriots owner Robert Kraft is honoring him, inducting Edelman into the Patriots’ Hall of Fame. Of course, while it’s not a bust in Canton, it is a “Hall.”

Edelman’s father, Frank Edelman, found out about the honor on camera, and his reaction was must-see.

Julian Edelman’s Father Caught on Camera Reacting to Son’s Accomplishment

Taking to X on May 5, the former New England Patriots star posted a clip of his father, Frank, reacting to the news. First, Julian impressed his father with his golf score, then he dropped the hammer.

Julian’s mother learned the news first and recorded Frank finding out during a phone call with the former wide receiver.

Frank noticed the camera, asking if they were setting him up. Then, he reacted as the news set in.

“Jules made the Hall! Yeah! First-Ballot Hall of Famer!” Frank said as he pumped his fist.

Julian retired after the 2020 season, so his five-year waiting period to be considered for the Hall of Fame in Canton is over. The wide receiver’s bust could be placed among the greats in a future season. For now, however, he will need to settle for being remembered forever in New England.

Edelman’s Career by the Numbers

In his career, the wide receiver tallied plenty of accomplishments. He was the 2018 Super Bowl MVP after the Patriots beat the Rams in Super Bowl 53.

He also placed in the top ten for receptions in four seasons (2013, 2014, 2016, and 2019), finishing his career in the top 100 for total receptions.

In the end, Julian had five seasons with at least 850 yards. He also had five seasons with at least 74 catches and two 100+ catch seasons.

His breakout season was 2013. After tallying 69 total catches over his first four professional seasons, Julian caught 105 passes in 2013, registering 1,056 yards and 6 touchdowns.

Julian, Brady, and Rob Gronkowski were the three stars of the Patriots offense, which went to five Super Bowls in the 2010s, winning three rings in the process. During Julian’s time with the team, the Patriots reached three additional conference championships.

Julian stayed behind after Brady left to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2020 offseason. Gronkowski joined Brady with the Buccaneers, leaving Julian and Bill Belichick as the last major vestiges of the dynasty. The receiver concluded his career after one season without Brady.
