Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen recently shared his thoughts on former teammate Stefon Diggs signing with the rival New England Patriots this offseason. During their four years together in Buffalo, Allen connected with Diggs for 5,372 yards and 37 touchdowns.
Now heated rivals in the AFC East, the two will face off twice a year and compete for a division championship.
Josh Allen Shares Thoughts on Former Teammate Stefon Diggs
Since falling out of favor in Buffalo, it’s fair to say that Diggs’ career has taken a dip.
Diggs signed a one-year contract with the Houston Texans last offseason. He played well, but a mid-season ACL tear limited him to only eight games, the lowest of his career. The injury meant that Diggs also missed out on a Pro Bowl nod for the first time since the 2019 season, with his four career Pro Bowl appearances coinciding with his time in Buffalo.
Despite the lack of gametime, Diggs put up respectable numbers when on the field. In a limited time, Diggs caught 47 passes for 496 yards and three touchdowns, as well as recording the first rushing touchdown of his career.

During a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Allen was asked for his thoughts on what Diggs could offer young Patriots quarterback Drake Maye. Allen was full of praise for the veteran receiver.
“I think he brings a lot of security for Drake,” Allen said. “Obviously, having the knowledge of playing in the league for so long, he has that veteran mentorship that he can give to Drake.”

Allen was also full of praise for Diggs’ new quarterback.
“I think Drake is super talented, he’s one of my favorite young quarterbacks in the league,” Allen added. “I’ve spent some time around him and he’s got his head on his shoulders the right way. He just does things the right way. I think that he exemplifies football. He’ll take it and run, he’ll throw it and to have someone like Stefon is going to help him out a lot.”

Maye is looking to improve on a rookie season in which he recorded the seventh-highest interception percentage among qualifying quarterbacks at 3 percent. However, he also finished with the 13th-highest completion percentage at 66.6 percent, despite lacking top-tier receiving options.
With Diggs and fellow former Bill Mack Hollins now on the roster, Maye should have a much better opportunity to showcase his skills more consistently in 2025.
