A wildly unpredictable year in the NFL has shown its effects on the Buffalo Bills as well. After years of dominating the AFC East, the team has fallen behind the rapid ascension of the New England Patriots, behind an MVP candidate in Drake Maye.
But they are still firmly in the thick of the playoff race after notching an impressive victory over a desperate Cincinnati Bengals team. After the game, though, it was Josh Allen who got some extremely high praise in the aftermath of the encounter, with some likening him to NBA legend LeBron James.
Josh Allen is Turning Into LeBron James for the Bills
A four-time MVP, four-time champion, the record holder for most points in history, most All-Star selections, All-NBA selections, and on the short list of greatest players of all-time, James’ legacy is firmly secure.
However, he has long been associated wth one of the greatest compliments imaginable for an athlete in a team sport. The idea of pulling a “LeBron James” for your team is synonymous with becoming a do-it-all Swiss Army Knife who can carry the entire organization on his back.
That is the kind of performance former Las Vegas Raiders veteran Jason Cabinda believed Allen had put forward against the Bengals. Breaking down the game for the NFL on CBS crew, he explained his rationale.
“Josh Allen is the story of the game, what he’s able to do with his legs, the way he’s able to extend plays, he always makes the right plays, he takes care of the football. I mean, he looks like LeBron on the Cavaliers right now with the things that he’s doing.”
Throwing for 251 yards and three touchdowns, he was also a factor on the ground, as Cabinda explained, adding 78 rushing yards and a touchdown on just nine carries. The Bills were able to score 39 on his back, beating the Bengals by five.

However, he also got some excellent contributions from superstar running back James Cook III, who finished with 80 rushing yards and 31 receiving yards on the night. The defense, too, came alive in the fourth quarter, forcing three consecutive turnovers on Joe Burrow, including a pick-six that turned the complexion of the game.
As good as Allen has been throughout his career, including winning the MVP award last season, he has been as much of a problem on the Buffalo roster this year as anyone else.
After just six interceptions all of last season in what seemed like a true metamorphosis for him, he has fallen back to his worst tendencies this year, recording 12 turnovers on the year.
Those have directly affected the results in several games, with three of the four Bills losses coming in games where he recorded multiple turnovers.
