Fantasy football managers are always looking for the next diamond in the rough at wide receiver. And, as a rookie playing (and succeeding) in head coach Sean McVay’s offense, Jordan Whittington could fit the bill.
Whittington, a sixth-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, caught seven balls for 89 yards in the Los Angeles Rams’ loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. He was also targeted 10 times just a week after seeing eight targets.
But should you consider adding Whittington, who’s rostered in just 11.2% of ESPN leagues, to your team? Let’s dive into it.
Should Jordan Whittington Be Added Off the Fantasy Waiver Wire in Week 6?
While we understand the temptation, Whittington doesn’t belong on your fantasy team. At least not yet.
The Texas product is currently behind Tutu Atwell on the Rams’ receiver depth chart. And with Cooper Kupp reportedly set to return from his ankle injury in Week 7, Whittington soon could be operating as the No. 3 receiver.
As for Puka Nacua (ankle injury), he could be sidelined for another month, so his status shouldn’t factor into whether you roster Whittington in the near term.
maybe I missed it in previous seasons
but it's so cool to see offenses releasing WRs into routes through the B and C gaps this year

With all that said, you still should keep an eye on Whittington.
After totaling five catches on five targets for 50 yards in Weeks 2 and 3, Whittington amassed 13 receptions on 18 targets for 151 yards in Weeks 4 and 5.
The Rams are on a bye this week. If Whittington continues seeing a large target share with Kupp on the field in Week 7, there will be a conversation about adding him as a Flex option until Nacua returns.
So, TBD. But right now, there’s little reason to clear space on your roster for Whittington.
