Jordan Love Makes Feelings Clear on Former Mentor Aaron Rodgers’ NFL Future as Packers Legend Delays Decision

As Aaron Rodgers debates his NFL future, Jordan Love shares his feelings on potentially matching up against him.

One of the biggest stories in this year’s free agency has been the future of Aaron Rodgers. After leaving the Green Bay Packers two seasons ago, Rodgers joined the New York Jets with high expectations. But his time in New York hasn’t lived up to the hype. Now, the hunt for his next team is on.

Meanwhile, his former team has had a smoother path, transitioning to Jordan Love as their starting quarterback. With back-to-back playoff appearances, the future looks bright in Green Bay. But with their mentor-mentee connection, where does Love stand on Rodgers’ uncertain future?

Jordan Love Details Aaron Rodgers’ Free Agency

Since leaving Green Bay, Rodgers has missed one full season and won just five games in the other. The Packers, on the other hand, have reached the playoffs both years. Love now holds a $220 million extension and has led the team into Super Bowl dark horse territory.

With the four-time MVP’s next move still up in the air, Love spoke with Kay Adams on the “Up & Adams” show and shared his thoughts — especially on the possibility of facing Rodgers as an opponent.

“Yeah, well, we’re gonna see. Who knows what team he’s gonna end up on right now? So we’ll see that. I would definitely love to play [Rodgers]. That’ll be cool, obviously started my career with him, being a backup to now playing against him, that would definitely be a pretty cool experience.”

In the end, it all comes down to where Rodgers lands. In his first public appearance since the end of the 2024 season on “The Pat McAfee Show,” the former Super Bowl champ made it clear he hasn’t made a decision.

All options, including retirement, remain on the table. When asked about that possibility, Love got emotional.

“We’ll see. I’m not even gonna speak on that. I hope that’s not the case — watching that man play, I definitely think he’s got some more years in the tank.”

Last season was one of the roughest of Rodgers’ career. He posted his lowest passer rating and ranked 21st on PFSN’s QB+ metric. By comparison, Love ranked 13th.

Even if this is the end, Love made it clear he has nothing but respect for his former teammate.

“That was my mentor coming into the league, so I would hate to see him go out. But I mean, he’s had a phenomenal career, definitely a Hall of Famer. So, we’ll see. I don’t think he’s ready to end it, though.”
