Jonah Savaiinaea’s NFL Draft Scouting Report
Jonah Savaiinaea checks a lot of boxes as an early-round offensive line target. He has great size and natural leverage at 6’4″, 324 pounds, with 34″ arms. He’s an elite athlete with a documented 4.95 40-yard dash and 1.72 10-yard split — numbers that are reaffirmed by his energized athleticism and blocking range on tape.
And on top of it all, he has extensive experience at both guard and tackle, and can play both in a pinch.
He’s expressed his desire to play guard at the NFL level, and that’s likely where he projects best with his wide frame, anchor strength, and driving physicality. That said, he has enough length to stick at tackle, and he’s flashed improvement with his hand placement and timing on extensions.
At either spot, Savaiinaea can function as a rangy people-mover with a tone-setting mentality, and sturdiness in pass protection.

Jonah Savaiinaea’s Latest NFL Draft Projection
PFSN’s Ian Cummings projected that Savaiinaea would be picked 45th overall by the Los Angeles Chargers in his latest seven-round mock draft.
Cummings said, “Zion Johnson hasn’t lived up to expectations in Los Angeles, so with this pick, the Chargers complete their offensive line remodel with Jonah Savaiinaea, an athletic brawler inside.”

An instant starter at right guard as a true freshman who then shifted out to right tackle for his final two seasons, Jonah Savaiinaea is yet another prospect with position flex. That said, Savaiinaea himself has expressed a desire to play guard over tackle in the NFL.
It’s a preference that makes sense for Savaiinaea, given his build and his play style. At 6’4″, 324 pounds, with near-34″ arms, he has a picture-perfect mix of mass, natural leverage, and proportional length, and it’s weaponized by his high-energy athleticism.
As a tackle-to-guard convert, Savaiinaea bears a lot of similarity to recent Atlanta Falcons second-round pick Matthew Bergeron. Bergeron, like Savaiinaea, had hand usage inconsistencies that played a hand in his move. But on the inside, Savaiinaea has the tools to thrive.
