The New York Giants are currently in the middle of conducting their search for a new head coach. Like many other teams, the Baltimore Ravens are considering former head coach John Harbaugh as their top candidate. Harbaugh is visiting the Giants’ facilities on Wednesday. One NFL insider believes Harbaugh could become the Giants’ head coach by the end of the day on Wednesday.
Why Does An Insider Believe the Giants Might Fast Track Hiring John Harbaugh?
On Wednesday morning, NFL insider Jordan Schultz shared a post on X predicting that Harbaugh could become the Giants’ next head coach by the end of the day. According to Schultz, the Giants have gone all-in to make their interest clear.
” The Giants’ pursuit of John Harbaugh has been aggressive …. phone calls, lunch, private planes, everything you could think of. Now he’s officially in their building today. And if the Giants and Harbaugh truly want each other, they could hire him today, as the Giants have complied with all the rules necessary to make a coaching hire, per sources. Other teams patiently wait.”

Schultz’s assessment of the situation seems correct. The Giants clearly have Harbaugh down as their No.1 option for their head coaching vacancy. Although phone calls and sending private planes are standard practices for most teams, having a meal with a candidate usually shows that an organization is serious about the potential of hiring them.
From the Giants’ perspective, the appeal is obvious. Harbaugh brings Super Bowl-winning experience, long-term stability, and a proven ability to build consistent contenders. For a franchise that has struggled to find sustained success since its last championship run, hiring a coach with Harbaugh’s résumé would represent a major statement.
However, while New York may be ready to move quickly, it may not be in Harbaugh’s best interest to do the same. Agreeing to terms this early in the process would limit his ability to explore other openings around the league. Teams like the Tennessee Titans, Las Vegas Raiders, and Atlanta Falcons are expected to show interest, and taking additional interviews could give Harbaugh more leverage or reveal a better long-term situation.
That said, exploring at least two other vacancies before he takes the Giants job would be a smart move. After that, if he decides that New York is still the best landing spot for him, then he should by all means take it. Given their pursuit of Harbaugh, it’s likely that the Giants would wait for a decision from Harbaugh, even if it doesn’t come on Wednesday, before hiring someone else.
