The New York Jets have made major moves this offseason after the disaster that was the 2024 season.
Those moves included a new head coach (Aaron Glenn), a new quarterback (unknown), and at least one major change at the wide receiver position.

Jets Release WR Davante Adams
The Jets tried to make a splash and change things up in the regular season when they traded for Adams from the Las Vegas Raiders, but the deal did not end well.
It’s not as though Adams had horrible stats after he was traded, but it did not translate to wins, and the Jets’ season became an unmitigated disaster.
So, it is no surprise to see Adams get released, but it is still a big-name wide receiver now on the market. Adams was due a $38 million cap hit for the 2025 season, and there was essentially no chance he was being brought back on that number.
The Jets are releasing WR Davante Adams, source tells @NFLonCBS. This was the logical conclusion considering his $38 million cap hit in 2025.

No team would trade for Adams at that number either, so a release was the widely expected outcome once the season ended.
With Adams and Aaron Rodgers both free agents, it will be interesting to see where they both land and if they will end up together for the third time. According to Matthew Berry of NBC Sports, the duo still wants to play together.
“I’m told Adams and Aaron Rodgers really want to play together, so my guess is Adams likely won’t have a new team until Rodgers does.”
Rodgers has been linked to a couple of teams, and Berry makes a reference to both Adams and Rodgers staying in the state of New York and signing with the Giants, which would make for a huge story.
It remains to be seen what either of these guys have left in the tank, but Adams himself was not horrible last season.
He missed a couple of games due to a hamstring injury (or he was being held out by the Raiders to be traded), but he finished the year with 85 receptions for 1,063 yards and 8 touchdowns, combining his stats from both the Raiders and Jets.
Those stats are a far cry from the 1,300+ yard seasons he was putting up with Rodgers when they were both in their primes with the Packers, but that is still a solid receiver.
If they end up with the Giants together, all parties involved are hoping that it would go better than it did for the Jets.
