‘What a Waste of Talent’ — NFL World Reacts to Jets Drafting Kenyon Sadiq With No. 16 Overall Pick

The NFL world has mixed reactions after the New York Jets decided to select Kenyon Sadiq with the 16th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

The New York Jets made a move that few expected. They went with the highly athletic TE Kenyon Sadiq out of Oregon. The Jets are taking their chance to get a playmaker, and the NFL world is taking its chance to discuss the latest player headed to New York.

NFL World Reacts to the Jets Picking Kenyon Sadiq

Sadiq is a tight end who can also fill in as a receiver. He is a freak athlete with speed rarely seen in a tight end. PFSN’s Jacob Infante weighed in on the Jets’ selection.

“I think he fits the offensive playmaker build and look, they got solid production out of Mason Taylor in his rookie season. I think they’re still going to utilize him a bit in the passing attack,” said Infante on Football Debate Club’s live draft show.

“But you’re looking at a team that’s got Garrett Wilson as their WR1, and then not much else at WR2, WR3, and beyond,” Infante added. “He’s going to line up in the slot. You can play him out wide if you want, with that 4.39 speed and just how big he is, he’s an elite athlete for his size, obviously, in the break… He’s an elite-level athlete with insane receiving upside.”

PFSN’s draft grade for the pick is not what Jets fans want to see. The grade is a D-. Sadiq can play, but he isn’t an exact fit for the Jets after selecting a TE in last year’s draft in Mason Taylor.

“So the Jets have Mason Taylor and Keyon Sadiq at tight end now,” said Omar Kelly of the Miami Herald.

One NFL media personality thinks the Jets made a mistake, quite like PFSN’s draft grade.

“Sadiq to the jets… What a waste of talent,” said Brandon Lee.

The Jets have wasted some talented players over the years, and Lee thinks Sadiq will be one of them. Many others believe that the Jets have other needs to fill.

“I don’t like the Kenyon Sadiq pick for the Jets. They have other needs to address,” said NFL insider Frank Ammirante.

Others chose to focus on Sadiq’s freak of nature athleticism and not focus on the immediate fit for the Jets.

“Kenyon Sadiq to the Jets surprised me, at the end of the day I’m a big advocate of just stacking really high end prospects, Actually don’t mind it, dudes a freak,” said NFL personality Austin Abbott.

Another echoed the sentiment about his freak athleticism.

“Sadiq! Freak!” said NFL reporter Adam Schein.

The Jets are going to have to use Sadiq all over the field to give defenses problems and make the selection worth it. But until Sadiq proves his worth on the field, there’s going to be plenty of noise about the selection.
