3-Time Super Bowl Champion Jerry Rice Chases Heckler In Bizarre Viral Moment At Golf Tournament

Former San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jerry Rice was involved in a bizarre incident with a heckler during a golf tournament.

Former San Francisco 49ers star Jerry Rice is considered perhaps the greatest wide receiver in NFL history after a historic 20-year career. Rice, who helped to establish the 49ers’ dynasty, winning three Super Bowl titles during his illustrious career, still holds several NFL records.

Recently, Rice hit the headlines for a bizarre incident at the American Century Championship when he chased down a heckler from the crowd.

Jerry Rice Caught in Bizarre Golf Course Altercation

The whole incident was captured on camera as the 49ers legend left the golf course to pursue the heckler through the crowd, before returning to finish his game. He finished No. 42 out of 90 participants at the annual golf tournament in Lake Tahoe.

“Which one? Which one?” Rice shouted at the crowd as he pursued the heckler.

According to TMZ, during the 2024 edition of the tournament, Rice also had a confrontation with one reporter who asked about the Kansas City Chiefs’ wide receivers. “I will (expletive) you up. If you want some, come get some,” Rice told a reporter.

After being selected No. 16 overall in the 1985 NFL Draft by the 49ers, Rice quickly established himself as one of the league’s most potent wide receivers. In the ensuing years, Rice led the league in receiving yards and touchdowns six times to cement his legacy as arguably the greatest wide receiver in NFL history.

Rice formed a devastating partnership with quarterback Joe Montana, and the duo helped lead the 49ers to back-to-back Super Bowl titles in 1988 and 1989, with Rice winning the MVP in the first.

The iconic wide receiver still holds several seemingly unbreakable records, including career receiving yards (22,895), 197 receiving touchdowns, and 1,549 receptions. He also received 10 first-team All-Pro nods and 13 Pro Bowl selections in his legendary career.

In an interview with NBC Sports Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco last week, Rice predicted that the 49ers would win the Super Bowl this season.

“I feel really good… I think this is the year for the Niners,” Rice said. “I certainly hope so, and it’s going to be up to those players to go out there and get it done. It starts real soon, and like a horse in the Kentucky Derby, I always knew when it was time.”

“Those horses, they know when it’s time to race. I think [with] the Niners, they probably feel the same way. So, this has to be a big year for them,” He continued. “I’m looking for a fun year. I’m looking for the Niners to make a statement. They have a very good team now.”

The last time that the 49ers won the title was in 1995, when they defeated the San Diego Chargers 49-26 in Super Bowl XXIX. Rice managed 149 receiving yards on 10 receptions, resulting in three touchdowns in that game.

The 49ers have been to the playoffs 14 times and to the Super Bowl 3 times since that victory, but have failed to get the job done.
