While there are many storylines heading into Week 4 of the 2025-26 NFL season, such as New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart making his first-ever NFL start, there’s perhaps none bigger than the Dallas Cowboys hosting the Green Bay Packers and edge rusher Micah Parsons.
Ahead of this ultimate revenge game, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones had some choice words about the team’s former first-round draft pick.
Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones Takes Shot at Micah Parsons Ahead of Week 4
Ahead of the regular season, the Cowboys traded Parsons away to the Packers and received two first-round picks and defensive lineman Kenny Clark.
This came after an incredibly tumultuous offseason in which Jones was adamant that he and Parsons had worked out a deal, but Parsons and his agent disagreed.
It got to the point where Parsons publicly requested a trade, and eventually, Jones and the Cowboys obliged.
Now on Sunday Night Football in Week 4, the Cowboys are hosting the Packers. This is the first time Parsons will be playing in Dallas without the patented Cowboys star on his helmet.
While the tension is heating up, Parsons has already recognized that it’ll be “painful” to sack his former teammate, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, potentially.
Parsons has been dealing with a bit of a back injury to start the season, but he still has 1.5 sacks and 15 pressures. In fact, his 15 pressures are tied for fifth-most in the NFL.
Ahead of this high-profile matchup, Jones appeared on “105.3 The FAN” and had some choice words for the former No. 12 overall draft pick from the 2021 NFL Draft.
“While he does make great plays, there is also a way to approach playing against Micah. As we know, we didn’t exactly win the Super Bowl those years,” Jones said [h/t Jon Machota of “The Athletic].

Jones went on to mention Parsons in the running game, adding “… Some plays it looks beautiful, but then other plays, especially running plays, you wish you had a different formation.”
While Parsons isn’t known for his run defense, he’s accumulated 367 pressures and 54 sacks over his career.
In 2024, Parsons finished sixth in pressures with 70 despite playing just 13 games. All players ahead of him played at least 15 games, with four of them playing all 17.
Jones appears to be stuck on his play in run defense and somewhat overlooks the massive impact he has as a pass rusher.
We’ll see how the Cowboys perform in this game as a home underdog. They’re surrendering a league-high 288 passing yards per game.
