Jermaine Mathews Jr.’s NFL Draft Potential
Jermaine Mathews Jr. isn’t quite as high on my board as his teammate Davison Igbinosun, but Mathews should still field early-round capital and earn a starting opportunity at the NFL level. Mathews is more proficient in off-man and zone than press-man, as he has a keen understanding of how to throttle and manage his hip alignment with cushion.
He has slot-boundary versatility and can blitz downhill from the nickel spot, and he’s also shown that he has the ability to read routes and undercut with quick reaction and closing speed for turnover opportunities.
Where Is Mathews Being Selected Most Often in the PFSN Mock Draft Simulator?
Mathews currently holds the No. 87 overall rank among prospects, reflecting his standing among mid-round prospects. His most recent Average Draft Position (ADP) of 86.5 as of October 13 reflects that he is typically being selected on Day 2 or early Day 3.
This small gap between rank and ADP suggests he’s consistently valued among evaluators, even amid fluctuations in player evaluations at this stage of the draft cycle.
Users controlling the Atlanta Falcons have been the team that selected Mathews the most frequently over the past week, accounting for 1.4% of their picks across all seven rounds.
