Jayden Reed Injury Update: What’s the Latest on the Packers WR’s Status, and When Will He Return?

Jayden Reed broke his collarbone in the Packers' TNF win and is expected to miss 6-8 weeks, forcing Green Bay to rely on rookie Matthew Golden.

The Green Bay Packers appear to be one of the best teams in football to start the 2025 season. They are 2-0 and coming off a Thursday Night Football win over the Washington Commanders. Green Bay looks like the most complete team in football through two games, but there is a lot of football left to be played this season.

One thing that could derail the Packers is their inability to stay healthy. On Thursday, they lost wide receiver Jayden Reed to a broken collarbone, and he is expected to miss an extended portion of the season.

Jayden Reed To Miss Time

On Thursday, Reed caught a pass and landed hard on his right shoulder, breaking his collarbone. The injury required surgery, and Reed is expected to miss 6-8 weeks.

This is a tough blow for a Packers team that is not loaded with elite pass-catchers. The injury timetable came from Pro Football Doctor, David Chao. Although the standard return time is 6-8 weeks, it will depend on how Reed recovers from the surgery.

The Packers will likely have to rely more on the run game, as Reed and Christian Watson are injured. Also, rookie wide receiver Matthew Golden will be given more opportunities to show why he was selected in the first round of the NFL Draft. With Jordan Love at quarterback and Matt LaFleur calling plays, the Packers should have no problems continuing to score points.

The Packers Are Playing Like the Top Team in Football

Entering the season, many people thought the Packers would be a playoff contender due to their talent and coaching. The hype only increased once they acquired edge rusher Micah Parsons from the Dallas Cowboys. Parsons gives the Packers one of the best pass rushers in football and someone who can wreak havoc on almost every play.

Facing the Detroit Lions and Commanders the first two weeks and winning by a combined score of 54-31 has put the rest of the league on notice. The only thing that can seemingly stop the Packers is the injury bug. However, if they remain relatively healthy this season, they should contend for the Super Bowl.
