Higgins began his college football career at Eastern Kentucky for two seasons, experiencing a breakout year in 2022. The athletic wide receiver caught 58 passes for 747 yards and 10 touchdowns that season, which facilitated his transfer to a Power-Four school in the offseason.

Despite his production, Higgins wasn’t particularly notable as a transfer. He garnered interest from Iowa State, providing him an opportunity to demonstrate his abilities at a higher level of competition.

In his two seasons with the Cyclones, Higgins continued his development as a skilled wide receiver. He surpassed his previous career-high receiving statistics with 983 yards and six touchdowns in 2023 but truly excelled in the 2024 campaign.
