The Washington Commanders made headlines with a blockbuster decision on Terry McLaurin that quieted months of speculation. While the news centered on one of the league’s most dependable receivers, the reaction that followed from a family member of the team’s quarterback caught just as much attention.
Regina Jackson Reacts to Terry McLaurin’s $96M Payday
After months of tense negotiations, holdouts, and even a trade request, the Commanders and wide receiver Terry McLaurin reached a deal that ensures his presence in Washington until the end of the 2028/2029 NFL season.
The Commanders agreed to a three-year extension with McLaurin worth up to $96 million, pushing the receiver’s salary past the $30 million per year mark.

This move marks a significant jump from his previous three-year, $68 million contract, where he averaged $22.7 million annually. The timing of the extension was notable, as Washington still benefits from quarterback Jayden Daniels being on his rookie contract.
With Daniels’ deal not yet up for renewal, the front office had the flexibility to lock in McLaurin without jeopardizing future roster construction.
McLaurin has been one of the NFL’s most consistent performers since his arrival in 2019 as a third-round pick. He has surpassed 1,000 receiving yards in five straight seasons and is coming off a career-best year with 13 touchdowns.
By securing this extension, Washington avoided entering 2025 with a disgruntled star and ensured their young quarterback would continue developing with his top target.
As the Commanders’ fan base celebrated the deal, Jayden Daniels’ mother, Regina, voiced her approval in a short but impactful way. On X, she posted a heartfelt five-word reaction: “Finally!! It’s go time now!!”

Her response captured what many within the Commanders’ circle have been feeling. McLaurin’s holdout and trade request created uncertainty during the offseason, but the new deal eliminates those distractions. Regina’s message also reflects the excitement surrounding her son’s opportunity to work with a fully committed receiving corps.
McLaurin’s career earnings now stand at $70.9 million, but if he completes his new deal, his total could exceed $166 million, with his estimated net worth at $74.43 million, according to Salary Sport via PFSN. Beyond the financials, the Commanders now have a reliable veteran weapon locked in as Daniels prepares for his second season as a starter.
Head coach Dan Quinn can now prepare for the opener against the New York Giants on September 7 with both his quarterback and star receiver aligned. For Washington, this stability may be the most valuable part of the contract.
