Jayden Daniels Shares Heartfelt 2-Word Message as Commanders Teammate Zach Ertz Hits Major Career Milestone

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels has shown some love to his teammate Zach Ertz after the veteran tight end reached a significant career milestone. The second-year signal-caller and Ertz are entering their second season playing alongside one another. Last year, they reached the NFC Championship Game, ultimately losing to the eventual Super Bowl winners, the Philadelphia Eagles.

Now, Daniels and Ertz are attempting to take the next step in 2025 as they battle in what has evolved into a highly competitive NFC East. As they push toward that goal, Ertz himself has made a bit of personal history.

What Did Commanders QB Jayden Daniels Say To Honor Zach Ertz?

Ertz took to his Instagram page to celebrate becoming just the sixth tight end in NFL history to reach 800 career receptions.

Daniels went into the comment section of Ertz’s post to offer his reaction to the milestone. The quarterback simply wrote “well deserved” to his fellow teammate. So far this year, Ertz has performed well for the Commanders in the receiving game. The veteran has caught 27 passes for 245 yards and four touchdowns through eight games played.

As for Daniels, he has struggled to stay healthy this season.

A lingering knee injury has forced Daniels to miss three starts. In the games he has played, Daniels has passed for 1,031 yards with a completion rate of 61 percent, throwing eight touchdowns and just one interception.

Most recently, Daniels missed the Commanders’ Monday Night Football game against the Kansas City Chiefs, which ended in a 28-7 loss. However, the signal-caller is expected to return to practice with his team this week.

“He had a good rehab session on Sunday,” head coach Dan Quinn told reporters Tuesday at his press conference. “Team’s back out at practice tomorrow, and we plan on him being a part of that.”

Washington is hoping Daniels can return for Sunday Night Football against the Seattle Seahawks this weekend. The Commanders currently hold a 3–5 record and sit third in the NFC East.

A healthy Daniels could provide some much-needed momentum to this Washington team and offense, getting them back into the mix for a potential NFC East crown. Of course, with the defending champion Eagles still owning the division, as well as the Dallas Cowboys, who have emerged as one of the league’s most explosive offenses this season, that will be a tall task.

Washington’s margin for error is small, and dropping further behind could end their divisional hopes before December. The Commanders will host the Seahawks this weekend on Sunday Night Football from Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland, on November 2.
