Jayden Daniels’ Mother Regina Claps Back at Fans Comparing Commanders QB to Robert Griffin III After New Injury

Jayden Daniels' mother Regina was furious after fans started comparing her son to Robert Griffin III following another injury for Daniels in 2025.

The Washington Commanders dropped another game in Week 7 and fell below .500. After losing to the Bears on Monday Night Football in Week 6, the Commanders were hoping to bounce back against their divisional rival, the Dallas Cowboys, and they fell short.

Jayden Daniels, who’d previously missed two games with a knee sprain, exited Sunday’s game with a hamstring strain, and fans started making comparisons to another one of the franchise’s once-heralded first-round picks at the position, Robert Griffin III.

Daniels’ mother, Regina, clapped back at those fans who took aim at her son for getting injured.

Jayden Daniels’ Mother Takes a Dig at Fans

Daniels was sacked in the third quarter and came up grabbing his hamstring. He left the game to be evaluated and did not return. This is his second known injury of the 2025 season, and the young quarterback’s propensity for lower-body issues has led to comparisons to the injury-prone Griffin.

Regina was standing up for her son on social media and was having none of the comparisons. She was angry and took a shot at the fans that were going after her son.

“I wish you would stop manifesting RGIII on my son. Words are powerful and that’s all that’s talked about,” said Regina.

Griffin was one of the most electrifying quarterbacks in the NFL before he got injured. He wasn’t quite the same player after his injuries and it ultimately cost him a potentially long career in the league, as he was never a consistent starter again.

Now, fans are drawing similarities between Daniels and Griffin.

Daniels had a great rookie season and led the Commanders to an NFC Championship Game appearance. He was the Offensive Rookie of the Year just like Griffin.

Prior to Sunday’s injury, Daniels wasn’t having the best sophomore season, having to navigate numerous key absences at wide receiver in addition to his own physical issues. While it would be a stretch to compare the two players and their injuries, Washington has seen the story before with Griffin and a comparison is therefore very easy to make.

Daniels will be hoping to not have his career turn out like Griffin’s and his mother thinks the same. Regina knows how unfortunate Griffin’s injuries were and how it affected his career, so she is protecting her son by going at fans who are starting to project Griffin’s career trajectory on Daniels.

The Commanders will now be awaiting the diagnosis on Daniels’ injury and hoping he can be back next week. They are approaching a pivotal point in their season, and if they don’t turn things around soon, could be on the outside looking in during the postseason.

It’s a feeling Commanders fans had become accustomed to prior to Daniels’ arrival, but after last season’s conference championship appearance and new additions, they likely weren’t expecting to be in this position.

It won’t get easier for them, though, as a date with Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs looms in Week 8. Washington will have an extra day to prepare since the interconference showdown is on Monday night, but if Daniels is expected to miss multiple weeks, it could get real scary early for the Commanders.
