Jay-Z’s Agency Claps Back at Jerry Jones’ Controversial Statement on Cowboys Legend Dez Bryant

After his incendiary comments against Dez Bryant and Jay-Z, Jerry Jones faces backlash from the two as they claim his comments aren't true.

A day can’t go by without the owner and general manager of the Dallas Cowboys, Jerry Jones, becoming a significant component of the limelight. As he continues to deal with the fallout of the Micah Parsons trade demand, Jones has also kickstarted a public feud with franchise legend, Dez Bryant, and one of the greatest rappers of all-time, Jay-Z.

Unfortunately, Jones doesn’t seem to learn from his mistakes. His comments about Parsons’ production and availability directly led to the superstar defender feeling disrespected and asking to be traded out of Dallas. Now, his comments about negotiations with Bryant and his agency have led both parties to call him out directly, going so far as to label his comments outrightly false.

Jerry Jones Under Fire From Dez Bryant and Jay-Z’s Agency

In his trade demand, Parsons specifically made it clear that he felt disrespected by the organization and was firmly against the idea of negotiating without his agent. As a result, Jones was asked about his reluctance to speak with agents.

Unfortunately, he took the situation entirely in a different direction. He referred to what he went through with Bryant when he was signed to a five-year, $70 million deal as reasoning, claiming that Jay-Z and his agency, Roc Nation Sports, left him stranded.

Nick Harris captured his comments on X, as he said, “Because when we have a problem with the player, the agent is nowhere to be found. Jay-Z said that Dez would make all meetings. Jay-Z and I negotiated the contract, spent hours. He said, ‘Anybody in my organization is on time.’ He said, ‘My office used to be on the street corner, and I’ve always been early. So, they will be on time.’ And what did I say? I said, ‘I’m going to call you [when I have a problem].’ He quit taking my call.”

Unsurprisingly, the situation reached the party in question. Immediately, Bryant fired back on X, claiming he had been quiet in many unfair situations as well, subtly warning the contemporary about mentioning his name.

He wasn’t the only one who took offense at the comments from the Cowboys owner. Jay-Z’s agency, Roc Nation Sports, also put out a statement, detailing the exact timeline that went down during Bryant’s negotiations.

As reported by Rock Nation Sports and CBS, “In 2015, at the 21 Club, on a napkin, Jerry Jones, Juan Perez, Shawn ‘Jay-Z’ Carter and Stephen Jones negotiated a five-year, $70 million deal, which included a $45 million guarantee and a $20 million signing bonus for Dez Bryant. At the time, it was the second-largest contract for a wide receiver in NFL history.”

Going further, they accused Jones of being untruthful with his words. “The claim that Mr. Carter or Roc Nation representatives did not return a call from Jerry Jones is not only a false statement, but it’s also a comical one.”

The entire situation keeps going from bad to worse for Jones and Dallas, who are trying to bounce back from a seven-win season last year.

Instead, it’s pulled the focus on his off-the-field activities and set up a cloud hanging overhead the entire organization.
