Jaxson Dart continued his strong preseason for the New York Giants in Week 3 against the New England Patriots. After an opening drive touchdown, Dart led a couple more drives in the first quarter.
He left the game during a promising drive. See what happened to the rookie quarterback.

Dart stayed hot against the Patriots, leading a game-opening touchdown drive. Later in the first quarter, he scrambled on a fourth-down play. The rookie quarterback picked up the first down, but fumbled and hit his head on the ground while being tackled.

New York kept possession after a New England penalty, but Dart was led to the sideline by the officials. Jameis Winston came in and threw a touchdown pass to Jalin Hyatt on the next play. Hyatt had dropped to well-thrown deep balls from Dart earlier in the quarter, but made up for them.
Dart’s night ended after taking the hit, and Winston took over.

The 22-year-old quarterback got off to another hot start. He looked poised and confident in the pocket the entire outing, going six of 12 for 81 yards and the early touchdown to Greg Dulcich.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweeted that Dart was evaluated for a concussion and cleared the protocol.

Dart could quite possibly save the jobs of head coach Brian Daboll and GM Joe Schoen. The pair is under fire after going 3-14 last season. The Giants traded back into the first round to select Dart 25th overall in the 2025 NFL Draft.
He slowly crept up the quarterback rankings during the lead-up to the draft after throwing for 4,279 yards, 29 touchdowns, and six interceptions at Ole Miss last year. New York traded its second and third-round picks to the Houston Texans to move back up, so Daboll and Schoen went all in on the rookie.
Winston and Russell Wilson signed with New York before the draft. While Wilson is projected to be the Week 1 starter, it’s only a matter of time before Dart takes over, especially after his strong performance in the preseason.
Dart totaled 372 yards and three touchdowns in three appearances while completing 68% of his passes. He also added 47 rushing yards. The injury scare seems to be just that. Now Dart and the Giants can focus on their Week 1 road matchup with the Washington Commanders.
