Jaxson Dart and Abdul Carter Hug Each Other at Giants OTAs

A week after the quarterback’s appearance at a Donald Trump rally created a public rift with his defensive teammate, the two stars were caught on camera in a visible embrace at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center in East Rutherford.

The hug came right after Dart finished addressing reporters with a multi-minute prepared statement explaining his decision to introduce Donald Trump at the May 22 rally in Suffern, New York.

As Carter walked up to take his turn at the mic, the two dapped each other up and then embraced for several seconds, sharing a private word before walking off in opposite directions. Cameras were rolling on every second of it, and the reactions came pouring in across X.

YouTuber Chuck Knoxx leaned all the way into sarcasm, writing, “This moment ended 7 world wars.”

A user took a slightly softer angle, calling the scene a “PR stunt” while admitting he still enjoyed watching it play out on his timeline.

This user cuts right to the staged optics of the moment, writing that the two players “knew the camera was on.”

92.9 The Game co-host Carl Dukes of the “Dukes and Bell” show kept it short and pointed with “Let it go! They have.”

The unifying theme across the NFL world for this hug: skepticism. Most reactions across the internet read this embrace as a “genuine” resolution, choreographed for public consumption.

The Backdrop to the Jaxson Dart and Abdul Carter Donald Trump Rally Controversy

Dart took the stage at Rockland Community College in Suffern on May 22 to introduce Trump in front of a crowd of around 5,000 at a rally backing Republican Rep. Mike Lawler.

Chants of “Go Big Blue” echoed the hall, while Dart described himself to be “grateful,” “honored,” and “pleasured” to introduce the 45th and 47th president. Trump returned the embrace and called Dart “a future Hall of Famer.”

The excitement of the moment died down as Carter posted “Thought this s*** was AI, what we doing man,” in a since-deleted message on X.

Amid the backlash, the Giants held an internal meeting on May 26 to address the situation, with reports suggesting the meeting’s key agenda was how to keep internal matters internal.

Just three days later, at Giants OTA, Dart spoke at length, publicly for the first time. His prepared speech cited his family’s military background and his respect for the office of the president.

Carter, too, spoke separately, stressing that the duo doesn’t “hate each other” or “have beef,” and things have cooled down inside the Giants’ locker room.
