The New York Giants have one of the more fascinating quarterback rooms in the entire NFL.
That’s why rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart finds himself in a prime position to grow and develop, with a real opportunity to become a standout player at the next level.
From Fan to Teammate: Giants Rookie Jaxson Dart Joins a QB Room He Once Watched on Sundays
The 2025 first-round pick recently chatted with Sports Illustrated about his excitement regarding the quarterback room that he is now a part of to start his NFL career.
“They’ve been great,” Dart said about working with Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston and Tommy DeVito. “They were three of the first people to reach out to me when I got drafted, heard my name called. I’ve watched Russ since he was with the Seahawks, winning a Super Bowl.
“And I have one of his jerseys, so it’s great to be in that room and then getting to learn from guys like Jameis, who has bounced around from a few different places, but has played at such a high level, has such a great understanding of the game and has so much knowledge, being able to use him as an asset to just learn and continue to grow. And then Tommy, I mean Tommy is a baller, so it’s been great to have a relationship with him. We have a special quarterback room.”
Dart already has a ton of respect for the Giants organization, and just as much for the quarterback room he’s now part of.
That kind of appreciation is a big deal for any rookie signal-caller. It shows he’s entering the league with humility, a learner’s mindset, and the right attitude. With Wilson and Winston as mentors and DeVito as a young pro who just went through a similar process, Dart is surrounded by experience and guidance.
Not Yet, But Soon? Dart’s Path From Giants Backup to Franchise QB
With the number of veterans in the quarterback room, it doesn’t seem like Dart will be named the full-time starter anytime soon. However, he could start later in the season if the team is not in playoff contention.
Dart just isn’t ready for the NFL game right now, which is why the team signed both Wilson and Winston.

But the good news for both Dart and the franchise is that he started three years at Ole Miss and already has plenty of big-game experience. He’s taken hits from top SEC defenses and played in high-pressure environments, which should translate well to Sundays.
Now, it’s about refining his reads, quickening his release, and adjusting to the speed of the NFL. If he can fine-tune his skills and mold himself into the type of player that the Giants want him to be, he could have a long future with the team.
The Giants don’t need to rush him. With Wilson there as a placeholder and Winston offering veteran depth, Dart can ease into the league while learning what it takes to succeed.
Eyes will certainly be on his development this season, and if he handles things right, he could be the future face of the franchise.
