Travis Kelce has been one of the most dominant offensive weapons of his era with the Kansas City Chiefs, and yet his impact extends far beyond the field. The superstar tight end was recently named the Chiefs’ nominee for the prestigious Walter Payton Man of the Year award, recognizing his outstanding charitable work and community leadership.
Kelce’s off-field dedication hasn’t gone unnoticed, especially by his brother, former Eagles center Jason Kelce, who couldn’t be prouder of the man and role model his brother has become.
Jason Kelce Shares Touching Message For Brother Travis
Kelce’s charitable efforts off the field have earned him widespread recognition, including being named the Chiefs’ finalist for the prestigious Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award. The award highlights players who excel both in their sport and in philanthropic work, with charity and community impact at its core.
The Chiefs tight end runs his own 87 & Running Foundation and is deeply involved with Operation Breakthrough, often working alongside his brother Jason. The Eagles legend shared a heartfelt message celebrating Travis’ nomination:
“Congrats Taviola, the way you have impacted the game, your community, and your team is second to none. So incredibly deserving of this award, couldn’t be prouder!”
Kelce was equally elated over the honor and expressed gratitude for the Chiefs organization. “To be chosen as the team’s Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year is such a great honor,” he said in a statement. “I have so much love for Kansas City and the Chiefs organization, and to be selected once again means everything to me.
“The opportunity to be involved and help kids through Eighty-Seven & Running and working with Operation Breakthrough, as well as Ignition Lab, has been such a tremendous experience. Coming from Cleveland Heights and having a strong support system has taught me the importance of having the right people around, that show up for you and want to see you succeed.”
“Being able to give back to Kansas City and to my hometown, places that have done so much for me, has been a dream come true, and I’ll never take that for granted. Representing the team, the Hunt family, our fans, and my foundation is incredibly special and I’m very grateful.”
Each NFL team selects one finalist for the award, and only one player is ultimately chosen as the winner. Last year’s recipient was Arik Armstead, with Cameron Heyward and Dak Prescott winning in the two preceding seasons. First awarded in 1970 to Johnny Unitas, the honor recognizes players who demonstrate “excellence on and off the field.”
The winner receives a $250,000 donation from the NFL Foundation to the charity of their choice and is awarded a special patch to wear on their jersey for the remainder of their career.
