The Detroit Lions are taking on the Philadelphia Eagles this week in a game that could provide an early glimpse into the playoffs. At halftime, the Eagles lead 13-6.
The highlight of the first half was a boneheaded play by Jameson Williams. Instead of scoring a full seven points on a touchdown and an extra point, the team only scored six. Here’s how fans reacted.

Jameson Williams Flagged for Unsportsmanlike Conduct
In the second quarter of the game, Williams scored a 40-yard touchdown pass to tie the game at six. However, he made a boneheaded play of jumping and holding onto the base of the field goal, which resulted in a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty enforced on the extra-point attempt. Usually, this wouldn’t be an issue, but the winds in Philadelphia are blowing hard at 15-25 MPH. Instead of taking a 7-6 lead, kicker Jake Bates missed wide right, leaving the game tied.
In this clip, you can see the receiver getting ready to jump onto the post:
Jameson Williams told us on the Insiders that he thinks of his celebration at about the 1-yard during a big play.

Let’s just say fans didn’t take too kindly to the celebration.
“Jameson Williams is still laughing on the bench when the extra point is missed. Thanks for the lack of thinking,” one fan writes.

One fan points out that this isn’t a “one-off” occasion for Williams. He’s constantly flagged for celebrations. They write, “While I don’t think Jameson Williams should be penalized for that celebration. He constantly gets called for that.” At some point, you think he’d learn his lesson and stop causing his team unnecessary penalties.
Williams is having a solid year: 27 receptions for 474 yards and four touchdowns. Despite the good play, “Jameson Williams can never do something positive without evening it out with something negative,” one fan points out.

This is the fourth year of his career, so at this point, you think he’d play the game like a veteran. Considering all the unnecessary penalties, one fan asks, “When is Jameson Williams ever going to grow up?”.

Another fan shares the same sentiment, saying, “Thank you Jameson Williams for still not growing up despite multiple penalties for that exact behavior as well as other suspensions lol.”
Not only that, but a loss in this game could have playoff seeding implications. This fan says, “Jameson Williams cost the Lions the lead in a critical game that may determine the 1-seed because he’s an immature idiot.”

Summing up all the points, this fan hits it on the head when they say, “Jameson Williams is his own worst enemy.”

The receiver’s growing immaturity is now verging on costing the Lions games, and he must start putting the team first and eliminate the needless penalties that are hurting them.
