Jameis Winston Says He Wants to Play 12 More Years

Winston appeared on Barstool Sports’ “Pardon My Take” in the San Francisco Bay Area during Super Bowl week. Co-host Dan Katz asked the 32-year-old how much longer he believes he can play in the NFL.

“I would love to play 12 years,” Winston said. When asked to clarify whether he meant 12 more seasons, he responded, “12 more years. I’m going to be on 12 this year.”

He added context regarding his arm strength and durability.

“In terms of my arm, I’m blessed. I’m really grateful.”

The 2025 season marked Winston’s 11th year in the league. He spent the season with the Giants and remains under contract for 2026, where he is expected to serve as the backup behind Jaxson Dart.

Winston made two starts last season when Dart missed time due to a concussion. One of the more memorable moments of his year came in a game against the Detroit Lions. On a trick play, Winston pitched the ball to Devin Singletary, received it back, and threw a touchdown pass to Wan’Dale Robinson for his first scoring pass as a Giant.

Later in the same game, wide receiver Gunner Olszewski threw a 33-yard touchdown pass to Winston. It marked Winston’s first career reception and the first touchdown pass caught by a Giants quarterback since at least 1940. It was also the longest touchdown reception by a quarterback since 2015.

Veteran Role Continues After 11-Year NFL Journey

Winston entered the league as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft out of Florida State. Over 11 seasons, he has played for four franchises: the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New Orleans Saints, Cleveland Browns, and the Giants.

While his career has included starting stretches and backup roles, Winston has remained active and respected in quarterback rooms around the league. In 2025, he served as a mentor to Dart while providing experienced depth.

The Giants are entering a new era under head coach John Harbaugh, who hired Matt Nagy as offensive coordinator after Todd Monken became the Cleveland Browns’ head coach. With a new staff in place, the long-term structure of the quarterback room remains fluid.

Winston is entering his 12th season. If his words are any indication, he believes he’s only halfway through.
