Jalen Royals’ NFL Draft Scouting Report
Quietly, Jalen Royals is one of the more complete three-level threats in the 2025 NFL Draft. He caught 71 passes for 1,080 yards and 15 touchdowns in just his second season at Utah State, and in 2024, he racked up 836 yards and six TDs in just seven games. At around 5’11 1/2″ and 210 pounds, Royals has an appealing build.
He’s low-to-the-ground, compact, and energized as a mover, with easy hip sink, but he also has impressive play strength, particularly as a RAC threat.
There are times where Royals’ middling length hurts him in contested situations, but when he’s clear, he can make impressive body control adjustments, and his flexibility, twitch, and explosive athleticism allow for consistent separation. Royals can be a phenomenal WR2 with impact upside.

Jalen Royals’ Latest NFL Draft Projections
PFSN’s Ian Cummings projected that Royals would be picked 56th overall by the Denver Broncos in his latest seven-round mock draft.
Cummings said, “Giving off shades of Pierre Garçon with his size, fleet-footed athleticism, and play strength in multiple phases, Jalen Royals can be a dynamic movement-Z next to Khalil Shakir in Buffalo.”

Where Does Jalen Royals Rank Among 2025’s WR Prospects?
Here are the top 10 WR rankings for the 2025 NFL Draft, according to PFSN Draft Analyst Ian Cummings:
10. Kyle Williams, Washington State
9. Jayden Higgins, Iowa State
8. Tre Harris, Ole Miss
7. Jaylin Noel, Iowa State
6. Luther Burden III, Missouri
5. Jalen Royals, Utah State
4. Tetairoa McMillan, Arizona
3. Emeka Egbuka, Ohio State
2. Matthew Golden, Texas
1. Travis Hunter, Colorado
If you’re not 100% sold on Luther Burden III, just take Jalen Royals a round later and prosper. Royals sometimes gets lost in the 2025 class’ early-round group, but he carries a first-round grade on my board and has Pro Bowl upside.
At around 6’0″ and a playing weight of 210 pounds, Royals is simply built differently, compared to most of the WRs in the 2025 NFL Draft. He has next-level frame density and strength, and yet, he’s still exceedingly fast, explosive, agile, and flexible in all phases.
Royals’ strong physical makeup, build-defying malleability, and complete route-running profile make him a tantalizing prospect — one who brings shades of former NFL standout Pierre Garcon, but could be even more potent in scoring situations.
