Jalen Ramsey Teases a New Chapter as Rams Keep Door Open for Reunion
In a vague yet thoughtful social media post, Ramsey stated, “For the record btw, i’ve loved every city i’ve played in & the fans who supported! the anger is very misplaced at times but sometimes valid too 😂 but real ones kno the intentions always solid! …a new chapter awaits.”

The message has prompted renewed discussion about his next move, particularly given the Rams’ ongoing interest.
McVay addressed Ramsey’s status following an organized team activity, where he said, “Oh yeah. We would never close out those opportunities.” However, he admitted that, “There hasn’t been any meaningful, tangible dialogue as of late, but that can always change pretty quickly, as we know.”

Ramsey spent three and a half seasons with the Rams, anchoring the defense, earning two All-Pro selections, and playing a key role in their Super Bowl win. The Rams traded him in March 2023 to the Dolphins amid a financial reset. That rebuild seems behind them now, after winning the NFC West and a playoff game last season.
While McVay emphasized his comfort with the current defensive back group, the Rams did not select a cornerback in the recent draft — a notable decision, given it was considered a position of need. The move has only intensified speculation about Ramsey’s potential return.
Still, money is the biggest obstacle. Ramsey is guaranteed over $20 million in 2025 as part of the three-year, $72 million extension he signed with Miami. A trade before June 1 is improbable, as the Dolphins stand to benefit from greater salary cap savings if they wait until after that date.
Ramsey’s absence from Miami’s OTAs and coach Mike McDaniel’s curt response — “Quite honestly, zero has changed since the last time I said anything about him” — add to the uncertainty. McDaniel noted he was focused on the players present.
McVay, for his part, appears content either way. “Obviously Jalen is a unique deal, but I really like — and I think we all feel this way — the guys that have played,” he said, praising the depth and versatility of players like Darious Williams, Cobie Durant, Ahkello Witherspoon, Quentin Lake, and Kam Curl.
The Rams seem willing to wait out the market. Whether Ramsey’s “new chapter” involves a return to Los Angeles or a different path entirely remains to be seen — but the door, according to McVay, is still open.
