Jalen Ramsey quickly took to social media to announce his trade to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Before the start of the 2025 season, the Miami Dolphins and Ramsey mutually agreed to part ways. On June 30, the Dolphins made it happen, sending Ramsey and tight end Jonnu Smith to the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and a swap of draft picks.
The deal reflects the Steelers’ continued “win-now” approach as head coach Mike Tomlin looks to lead the team past the Wild Card round for the first time since 2017.
Jalen Ramsey Breaks His Own News as Steelers Trade With Dolphins Goes Viral
With a simple post reading “Break my own news!” and the hashtag “Here we go,” Ramsey tagged the Steelers as news of the trade broke.
The narration in the video wasn’t originally made for him, but it fits the narrative he’s embracing. Despite having just 469K followers, the post is nearing two million views in just over an hour, a testament to the buzz surrounding the move.

“In Pittsburgh, toughness isn’t just a trait. It’s a tradition. This city has always had a thing for defense with an edge. Now, there’s a new name stepping into the black and gold. A shutdown corner, relentless competitor, a walking chip on his shoulder with four wheels and no brakes.
“He talks loud, he hits hard, and he didn’t come to change what Pittsburgh stands for. He came to prove he belongs. Steel sharpens steel, and the Steelers just got sharper,” says the voiceover in the video Ramsey shared.
The 45-second video is the ultimate way to hype up a trade that has been months in the making. No one had the Steelers on Ramsey’s radar, or at least they didn’t expect it after the team gave Aaron Rodgers a one-year, $13.65 million deal. The trade also includes a slight raise for Ramsey, who will make north of $26 million in 2025.
This marks the fourth trade of Ramsey’s career.
He began his career with the Jacksonville Jaguars before being dealt to the Los Angeles Rams. After spending four seasons in L.A., he was traded to the Miami Dolphins, returning to Florida, and has now been sent to Pittsburgh.
Now heading to the AFC North for the first time in his career, Ramsey will have to adjust from the warmth of Florida to the harsh weather conditions typical of the division. The learning curve will need to be quick in a division that features star quarterbacks like Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow.
After missing the start of the 2023 season, Ramsey bounced back in 2024, playing all 17 games and finishing with 60 total tackles and two interceptions. However, this was still below his production with the Rams and in his early years with the Jaguars. Despite those seasons having one fewer game, he recorded at least 63 tackles in each of his first three years.
