One storyline that still remains unresolved this offseason is the future of Jalen Ramsey. After signing a contract extension with the Miami Dolphins in 2024, the cornerback requested a trade, and the franchise is now looking for a partner to make the move viable while satisfying both sides.
Speculation has linked him to multiple teams across both the NFC and AFC, and a trade seems likely since Ramsey is still considered one of the most reliable cornerbacks in the league. And maybe, that deal is closer than we think, with Ramsey himself possibly leaking where he’s going to play in 2025.

Jalen Ramsey Might Have Tipped Where He’s Going To Play This Season
If there’s one thing we know, it’s that NFL players love being cryptic, often choosing to drop hints and express themselves through subtle social media moves. Whether it’s liking specific posts, leaving cryptic comments, or suddenly following a wave of players from one team, these moves are rarely meaningless.
And Ramsey knows this game well, after all, he’s been in the NFL for nine years. With that in mind, his latest activity on Instagram might have revealed a possible move to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The cornerback recently followed several players from the team, all of whom he hadn’t followed before.

Ramsey has recently been linked to the Steelers, and with Aaron Rodgers joining the roster, this could signal that the franchise is going all-in to maximize this season’s window and push for a title run, something they haven’t achieved since the 2008 season.
Fans are excited about the possibility of Ramsey joining the team. Pittsburgh’s secondary already features safeties Minkah Fitzpatrick, who is coming off a down year, and DeShon Elliott, along with cornerbacks Darius Slay, Joey Porter Jr., and Beanie Bishop Jr. in the slot. Ramsey would instantly become the most talented player in the secondary and still has plenty of gas left in the tank.

In 2025, Ramsey’s contract is guaranteed at $24.235 million, but his base salary is just $1.255 million. A trade would leave only $6.745 million in dead cap for the Dolphins, making the move financially viable. In the following years, his base salary jumps to $10 million, and a restructure or even a release would be possible, which means the move would be primarily focused on maximizing this season.
The trade compensation is uncertain, but at this point in his career, and considering that Miami paid a third-round pick plus a player in 2023 to acquire him, it is likely that a deal could be done for a fourth-round pick or multiple Day 3 selections.
Since the goal for Miami would be to unload his contract, no team is expected to offer a higher price. And because releasing him would be worse in terms of cap hit, the value should fall within that range.
