The Las Vegas Raiders are 1-2, and they appear to be in a precarious position in the rugged AFC West. There was genuine hope that the arrival of GM John Spytek and head coach Pete Carroll would stabilize the organization. There was also hope that Tom Brady’s minority ownership/shadow president of football operations involvement would speed that process along.
So far, not so good. The Raiders secured a solid road win against the rebuilding New England Patriots but lost at home to the Los Angeles Chargers and were routed on the road by the Washington Commanders.
It’s not time to wave the white flag, but the Raiders may be considering moving a player who is not meshing with the program.
Who Could the Las Vegas Raiders Look to Trade?
According to PFSN’s Tim Crean, wide receiver Jakobi Meyers is the most likely trade candidate. “He has started the season well and wants a new contract extension that the Raiders don’t seem willing to give him,” Crean wrote.
Crean added that Meyers “seems to be at odds with Vegas’ offensive line coach, Brennan Carroll, who is Pete Carroll’s son.”
It’s not that Meyers is underperforming. He’s been one of quarterback Geno Smith’s top targets, recording 26 looks across three games with 17 receptions for 228 yards. His production dipped in Week 3 against the Commanders, when he had just four targets (three receptions for 63 yards) in 62 snaps, while teammate Tre Tucker hauled in three touchdown passes.
That said, Nick Walters posted an interview with Meyers looking ahead to next week.
“We know what losing can do to a program,” Meyers said. “If everybody sticks together and focuses on winning the next one, we’ll be alright.”

Who Could Trade For Jakobi Meyers?
Dallas Cowboys
They just lost CeeDee Lamb to an ankle injury, leaving George Pickens as the only reliable option on the outside. The Cowboys are thin at receiver, with Jalen Tolbert not a true No. 2 or effective slot option, and Jerry Jones is always eager to make a deal. If the Raiders want to cut bait, Dallas should be the first call.
Washington Commanders
Terry McLaurin just signed a lucrative extension, but he’s dealing with a thigh injury, and his availability is uncertain. His production also hasn’t matched last year’s numbers. The Commanders already have Deebo Samuel, Luke McCaffrey, and Jaylin Lane, and adding Meyers would give them a formidable receiver group.
New England Patriots
If Meyers is moved, a return to New England shouldn’t be dismissed. The Patriots are rebuilding, but they brought in Stefon Diggs to give second-year quarterback Drake Maye a dependable option. If the Raiders are willing to settle for mid-round draft picks, New England could be a realistic landing spot.
