5 CBs Packers Should Target As Jaire Alexander’s Replacement, Including Stephon Gilmore

The Green Bay Packers moved on from two-time Pro Bowler Jaire Alexander. Here's a look at five cornerbacks who could fill the vacancy.

The Green Bay Packers have released two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Jaire Alexander. The longtime standout spent seven seasons with the team and became one of the most recognizable faces on the defensive side of the ball in Green Bay. But his time there is over.

Now, the Packers need to fill the hole left behind in the cornerback room. The team typically doesn’t make trades in situations like this. Fortunately, there are still some intriguing free-agent options or trades to be had. Here’s a look at five cornerbacks who could help fill the Alexander-sized gap on the roster.

1) Stephon Gilmore

Stephon Gilmore may be up there in age, but he’s still producing. He’s recorded multiple interceptions in three of the last four seasons, showing there’s still something left in the tank.

The Packers are a regular playoff contender, so they’ll want someone who’s been there before. Gilmore won a Super Bowl with the New England Patriots in 2019 and has made five postseason appearances in his career.

2) Shaquill Griffin

Shaquill Griffin has been a bit of a journeyman lately, but if the Packers are looking for a short-term option with experience in different systems, Griffin fits the bill. He had two interceptions in 2024, which could signal an upward trend.

Griffin has played for the Seattle Seahawks, Jacksonville Jaguars, Houston Texans, Carolina Panthers and, most recently, the Vikings.

3) James Bradberry

James Bradberry missed the 2024 season with a lower-leg injury, but at almost 32, he might still have enough left to help bridge the gap until the 2026 NFL Draft, when the Packers can look for a long-term replacement.

According to The Athletic via NBC Sports, the former Eagles cornerback was expected to be healthy by the start of OTAs, so he should be good to go for 2025. Bradberry has been to the playoffs in three different seasons and could step up again if the Packers return to the postseason.

4) C.J. Henderson

If Green Bay can coach up C.J. Henderson, he might be a long-term solution. Henderson is only 26 and had two interceptions in 2022 while playing left cornerback for the Carolina Panthers.

If the Packers can pry him away from the Pittsburgh Steelers, they’d want to make sure he continues playing at left corner in 2025.

5) Rasul Douglas

Buffalo Bills cornerback Rasul Douglas has had plenty of strong seasons. He’s heading into his age-30 season, so he’s not a long-term fix, but he still has value.

Douglas has 19 career interceptions, including three separate five-pick seasons since 2021. If he can replicate that kind of production, he could give the Packers a solid boost in the short term.
