Running back Jahmyr Gibbs has been a key component of the renaissance of the Detroit Lions franchise. Since arriving on the scene, he has become a vital part of their offensive attack, leading them to two consecutive playoff appearances, while also garnering an impressive individual resume.
His talent is evident in his All-Rookie team selection and two Pro Bowl appearances, as well as leading the league in rushing touchdowns during the 2024 season. Off the field, he keeps things lively in the locker room with friendly bets among teammates, notably with star wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown.

Jahmyr Gibbs Reveals Details of Bet With Amon-Ra St. Brown
In two seasons, Gibbs has already emerged as one of the most productive threats, both on the ground and through the air. In his rookie year, he had 945 yards and 10 touchdowns, while adding 316 yards and an additional touchdown as a receiver.
But it was in Year 2, as the Lions recorded the best offense in the league, per PFSN’s Offense+ metric, that he exploded into one of the best dual threats across the NFL. Tallying 1,412 yards and 16 rushing touchdowns, he also had over 500 receiving yards.
Despite his impressive accomplishments so far, Gibbs remains focused on reaching even greater milestones. One of his most ambitious goals involves a friendly challenge with fellow teammate, St. Brown.
During a conversation with ESPN that Detroit’s Eric Woodyard captured and posted on X, Gibbs discussed the unique bet he shares with his teammate.
“Lions RB Jahmyr Gibbs still has his ongoing challenge with Amon-Ra St. Brown to get both 1,000 yards receiving and 1,000 yards rushing in the same season, and he will buy him anything,” posted Woodyard.

Additionally, Gibbs said he checked with St. Brown and confirmed the bet is still on. “It’s still a goal. I asked him about it again,” Gibbs said.
What will the second-year pro get in exchange for reaching that remarkable milestone? “He’s gonna get me a house,” said Gibbs.
With St. Brown consistently delivering Pro Bowl-level production, including three straight 1,000-yard seasons, Gibbs is part of an offense that thrives on elite performances. This level of offensive firepower sets the stage for Gibbs to attempt one of the rarest feats in NFL history.
So far, there have only been three instances of a player accomplishing the 1,000-yard mark in both categories. The first was Roger Craig for the San Francisco 49ers in 1985. Nearly 14 years later, Marshall Faulk became the second player for the St. Louis Rams in 1999.
It took two decades before another name joined the short list when Christian McCaffrey accomplished it with the Carolina Panthers in 2019. Now, Gibbs has shown the talent to make the goal a reality, and the Lions have a diverse attack that could allow him to accomplish the feat.
But it will take a truly extraordinary season from the Alabama product to turn that dream into reality, and finally earn him that house from Brown.
