The Jacksonville Jaguars committed to Travis Etienne Jr. for the 2025 season after they traded Tank Bigsby to the Philadelphia Eagles. They were rewarded with over 1,100 rushing yards and 13 total touchdowns from him, and a season unlike most expected with a rookie head coach and a middling roster.
Even after losing top draft pick and two-way star Travis Hunter to injury, quarterback Trevor Lawrence and the offense utilized Etienne Jr. immensely, leading the Jaguars to 13 wins and a division title. Even with the home playoff loss to the Bills, the arrow is pointing up in Jacksonville. But will Etienne Jr. be a part of it?
Titans Linked to Former Jaguars Running Back Travis Etienne Jr. Heading Into Free Agency Period
PFSN analyst Jacob Infante ranked the NFL’s top 100 free agents with what kind of contract they could receive and which teams could be their top suitors.
Infante has the former Jaguars running back ranked 32nd, which is third among running backs, behind Breece Hall (17th, franchise tagged by the New York Jets) and Kenneth Walker III (26th).
While Jacksonville is still a favorite to re-sign the running back, so too is a division rival.
Infante writes that Etienne Jr.’s “efficiency runs hot and cold, but with three 1,000-yard seasons, he’ll have a strong market.” A strong market, indeed, that Infante believes includes the division rival Tennessee Titans.
The Titans are in an interesting spot. They are entering year two of first-overall pick, Cam Ward, at quarterback. Robert Saleh is taking over as their new head coach. Most importantly, the Titans have the third-most available cap room in the NFL.
While Tony Pollard is still on the roster with one more year remaining under contract, the Titans could cut Pollard to free even more space to make a splash, such as Etienne Jr. There is also nothing preventing them from rostering both running backs at the same time.
Infante also has the Seattle Seahawks as a potential landing spot for Etienne Jr.
The Seahawks just won the Super Bowl, largely in part, thanks to Kenneth Walker III, who is also hitting free agency. Etienne Jr. could be a slightly cheaper option for the Seahawks over Walker III returning.
Infante projects Etienne Jr. receiving a three-year contract with an AAV of $7.5 million. For comparison, he has Walker III at three years for $8.3 million AAV. Without Etienne Jr., the Jaguars would have a massive hole to fill in their offense going into 2026.
