Jaguars vs. Saints | Current NFL odds, spreads, betting lines, and predictions

  • Spread: Saints -4 (-110)
  • Moneyline: Jaguars +170, Saints -200
  • Total: 38 (Over -115, Under -105)

This Jaguars vs. Saints matchup could be an intriguing one to round out Week 2 of the NFL preseason. According to both head coaches, there is an active QB battle raging on both sides.

Nonetheless, the Jaguars were easily handled by the Browns last week, while the Saints at least put up a fight against the Ravens. It makes sense that the Saints are favorites with most sportsbooks, but neither side looked convincing last week, especially given the level of competition they were each facing.

This total is among the higher ones for the week, which is somewhat confusing. Neither side looked particularly fluent on offense last week, and neither defense was a trainwreck either.

If one of the offenses gets clicking, the over could be in play, but the under always feels like the right side in preseason games.

Jaguars vs. Saints series history

Since the Jaguars were formed in 1995, they have played the Saints just seven times in competitive matchups. New Orleans has had Jacksonville’s number, posting a 5-2 record, including winning the last four matchups.

Let’s take a look at what has happened the last five times these two sides met.

  • Jaguars 20-19 Saints | 2003
  • Saints 41-24 Jaguars | 2007
  • Saints 23-10 Jaguars | 2011
  • Saints 38-27 Jaguars | 2015
  • Saints 13-6 Jaguars | 2019

The meeting between these two sides in 2019 was a somewhat drab affair. With Drew Brees injured, the Saints had Teddy Bridgewater under center and played conservatively.

Entering the fourth quarter, the game was tied 6-6, with two field goals apiece. Bridgewater broke the tie with a 4-yard TD pass to Jared Cook, giving his side the win.
