NFL Legend J.J. Watt Rips Pro Football Hall of Fame After Bill Belichick Misses Out on First-Ballot Induction

Bill Belichick was not voted in as a first-ballot Hall of Famer, drawing a strong reaction from NFL legend J.J. Watt on social media.

With Pro Football Hall of Fame voting underway, candidates must earn at least 40 of the 50 ballots cast to secure induction. In a decision that stunned much of the football world, legendary head coach Bill Belichick failed to reach that threshold.

Despite being an eight-time Super Bowl champion, Belichick will not be a first-ballot Hall of Famer. The surprising outcome sparked immediate backlash, including a pointed reaction from NFL legend J.J. Watt, who took to social media to express his disbelief and frustration with the voting results.

J.J. Watt Reacts After Bill Belichick Misses First-Ballot Hall of Fame Induction

Following the news of Belichick’s failure to be inducted into the Hall of Fame on the first ballot, Watt quickly posted to his X account, sharing his surprise with the rest of the football world, many of whom felt the same way.

“I can’t be reading this right,” Watt said.

“This has to be some knock-off Hall of Fame or something, it can’t be the actual NFL Hall of Fame.” Watt said on X, posting a statement asking whether this was, in fact, the real Hall of Fame the NFL world knows and loves.

“There is not a single world whatsoever in which Bill Belichick should not be a First-Ballot Hall of Famer,” Watt concluded. The legendary edge rusher appeared shell-shocked by the news, saying there is no world where the legendary head coach should not be a first ballot Hall of Famer.

The news surprised the entire football world, as many believed Belichick was a lock for first-ballot induction following his remarkable NFL coaching career.

Belichick won six Super Bowls across his 24 seasons as head coach of the New England Patriots, as well as collecting nine conference championships and 31 playoff victories overall, all rank as the most for any head coach in NFL history.

Those stats don’t even count his two Super Bowls as defensive coordinator with the New York Giants in 1986 and 1990.

Over his 29 years as a head coach, Belichick tallied 333 total wins, second-most all time, making his first-ballot snub all the more shocking.

Watt seems to share the sentiment of many fans across the NFL world. Whether you like him or dislike him, for nearly 30 years, all Belichick did was win. His exclusion is truly shocking, but he will get another shot at being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame next year.
