Pacheco Betting Trends and Stats
Including the playoffs, Pacheco averaged 71.8 rush yards per game in his 12 games in which he had 10 or more carries.
Pacheco Best Bet
Pacheco was a solid performer for the Chiefs out of the backfield once he became a starter. In fact, he started the last 14 games for the Chiefs, including the playoffs, and Pacheco managed to surpass 50 rushing yards in 10 of those 14 starts, including his 76-yard, one-touchdown effort in the Super Bowl win over the Philadelphia Eagles.
Pacheco also averaged nearly five yards a carry as a starter (4.9), and in the postseason that average increased to 5.3 yards per carry. So, it isn’t as if the second-year running back will need a lot of carries to get over the 50-yard mark, which is a good thing when you have a quarterback like Patrick Mahomes, who should be throwing it all over the field.
What it comes down to is if you believe Pacheco will get at least 10 carries on Thursday. If you do, it’s worth taking the over on rushing yards since in the 12 games — including the playoffs — that Pacheco had 10 or more carries, 11 times he surpassed 50 yards on the ground.
As poor as the Detroit Lions’ pass defense was last season, their ability to stop the run may have been even worse. Only the Los Angeles Chargers allowed more yards per carry than the Lions (5.2), and Detroit also ranked 29th in rushing yards allowed per game (146.5).
While it is believed the Detroit defense will be improved, all trends are still pointing toward Pacheco having a good season opener on Thursday night.
