On Nov. 15, it was revealed that the league office fined Green Bay Packers linebacker Micah Parsons $12,172 for tripping Philadelphia Eagles’ running back Saquon Barkley.
And while Barkley gained five yards on the next snap after the incident in question, his performance in the game following, during Week 11’s edition of Sunday Night Football between the Eagles and the Detroit Lions (6-3), has left fans wondering about his status.
What’s up With Philadelphia Eagles’ Saquon Barkley?
The play involving Parsons and Barkley happened late in the fourth quarter of Monday’s 10-7 win by the Eagles over the Packers, with Philadelphia facing a second and seven from its own 44 and giving Barkley the handoff.
While Parsons was not penalized for the play that caused Barkley to fall short of the line to gain, the fine showed the play was not acceptable to the league.

Week 11’s showing for the Eagles has since seen Tank Bigsby display real juice on carries in relief of Barkley, though, even though there was no injury from the aforementioned matter.
Barkley remained a sluggish ball carrier against the Lions, with 41 yards on 14 carries at one point, compared to ending 2024 with over 2,200 all-purpose yards. And while there was no injury as a result of the former incident with Parsons — he’s unfortunately playing like there is.
At the time of writing, Barkley had rushed for 48 yards on 17 carries while the Eagles led 16-6 with nine minutes left in the fourth quarter.

The Penn State alum — who wears No. 26 — was drafted by the No. 2 overall pick for the New York Giants back in the 2018 NFL Draft. At one point, the star RB was the face of the Giants’ franchise for six seasons, but left to join Philadelphia during free agency in March 2024.
According to ESPN, the reasoning behind the move was straightforward: Barkley received several million dollars more in guaranteed money ($26 million in total) than the Giants offered during their nearly two years of negotiations, dating back to the bye week of the 2022 season.
Barkley’s career high came in 2024 with the Eagles, posting 15 total touchdowns in addition to the previously referenced 2,000+ yards.
Before the conclusion of play against the Lions, Barkley’s career rushing stats currently sit at 7,795 yards and 52 touchdowns across 1,695 carries. He’s also caught for a total of 2,578 yards and 16 touchdowns.
And while Barkley’s career is undoubtedly a story with success, it appears Week 11 of the 2025 season was simply an off night for the 28-year-old.
