Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. is arguably the best prospect in the 2024 NFL Draft.
While quarterbacks will likely be selected before the talented Buckeye is off the board, Harrison’s college résumé and potential to succeed at the next level is among the highest that we’ve seen at his position in several years.
After not working out at the NFL Combine, there has been a lot of anticipation regarding Harrison’s involvement at Ohio State’s Pro Day. Will he be participating?
Will Marvin Harrison Jr. Work Out at Ohio State’s Pro Day?
According to The MMQB’s Albert Breer, Harrison will not be working out at Ohio State’s Pro Day on Wednesday.
Breer expects it to be a quiet day in Columbus, Ohio, as many of Harrison’s teammates at Ohio State will be returning to school. Additionally, no NFL general managers or head coaches are expected to be in attendance. This is a rarity for Ohio State, but without Harrison participating, there’s not much of a reason for NFL brass to descend upon campus.
Harrison is reportedly busy training for success in the NFL, not interested in preparing for Combine-testing drills like the 40-yard dash. He met with nine teams at the NFL Scouting Combine earlier this month and asked them all if they needed to see anything else from him at the Ohio State Pro Day. They all said no.
As a freshman in 2021, Harrison didn’t receive much playing time behind future first-round picks Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave. However, Harrison exploded onto the scene in the Rose Bowl vs. Utah, scoring three touchdowns on six passes for 71 yards.
Since then, college football has become Harrison’s playground. He was a two-time unanimous All-American as well as the 2023 Fred Biletnikoff Award winner for college football’s most outstanding receiver. In 2023, he was also named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year.
In his sophomore season with now-Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud, Harrison put up 1,263 receiving yards on 77 catches for 14 touchdowns. During his final season with the Buckeyes, with a downgrade at quarterback in Kyle McCord, Harrison recorded just 52 fewer yards and still found the end zone 14 times.
