What’s Happening With Rams RB Kyren Williams?

So far in the first half, Williams has two carries for only one yard. As the game entered the fourth quarter, however, the running back was more involved in the Rams’ offense.

Williams has also been a target for Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford. He’s caught one pass for 10 yards, his only targeted pass from Stafford all game long.

Stafford, though, connected with wide receiver Puka Nacua on a pass in the first half.

The Rams have already clinched a spot in the NFL postseason, but they’d like to pick up another victory in front of a national TV audience watching on ESPN. There is no indication at this time that Williams is injured, either.

The Falcons stormed out to a 21-3 lead as Falcons running back Bijan Robinson caught a touchdown pass from Atlanta quarterback Kirk Cousins. Then, on a handoff from the 3-yard line, Robinson motored through the Rams’ defensive line and scored 97 yards later.

Yet Stafford and Co. have had some help getting on track in the second half. Stafford threw a touchdown pass, the Rams got a field goal, and the Rams’ Jared Verse blocked an Atlanta field goal attempt and ran it back for a touchdown.

With less than 13 minutes left in the fourth quarter, Los Angeles has stormed back to just be behind Atlanta 24-17. The Rams’ defense has also stiffened, keeping Robinson in check for most of the second half. Still, the Rams have a lot of work to do. Williams, who currently has 53 rushing yards on 10 carries, hopes to play a role in helping Los Angeles secure its 12th win of the season.

He’s been working his way through the Falcons’ defensive front thanks to improved play from the Rams’ offensive line. Time is of the essence for Williams, Stafford, and Rams head coach Sean McVay at this point. But the Rams are not showing that they have any quit in them at all.
