Is Keon Coleman Injured? Breaking Down the Bills WR’s Slow Start vs. Falcons in Week 6

After a hot start to the season, Buffalo Bills WR Keon Coleman has cooled off as the season has gone on with another slow start in Week 6.

After a standout performance in Week 1, many thought that Buffalo Bills wide receiver Keon Coleman was primed for a breakout. However, his impact has lowered week after week, and the second-year wideout is struggling to regain that Week 1 magic with another slow start against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 6.

What Happened to Buffalo Bills WR Keon Coleman?

No, Coleman is not injured. In fact, he was not on the injury report all week. He was benched for the first drive of the Bills’ Week 5 Sunday Night loss to the New England Patriots, but that was for disciplinary reasons.

Unfortunately, he has gotten off to another slow start, catching one of his three targets for just four yards. The Buffalo offense as a whole has struggled as they sit in a 21-7 hole going into halftime. While he has struggled, a former NFL Pro Bowl receiver pointed out that the Bills need to vary Coleman’s opportunities on third downs.

Allen Robinson II posted on X, “[The Bills] have to expand Keon Coleman’s 3rd down route tree. He’s run the stop on 3rd down A LOT. Bread and butter, yes, but reduce his split or something.”

Coleman saw the second-highest receiving yards total of his young career in Week 1. He was also able to score; however, he wasn’t able to find his way back to the end zone until the Week 5 loss. Additionally, his yardage high since the Ravens game was 45 yards against the New Orleans Saints in Week 4, while not having over 30 in his other outings.

Buffalo selected Coleman with the first pick of the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft. While the former Florida State Seminole has shown flashes, his offensive production has lacked consistency. The Bills had been able to withstand the underwhelming output, but it came to a head last week against the Patriots despite scoring.

The Bills find themselves struggling offensively after scoring 33.3 points per game over the first four weeks of the season. They struggled to keep up with a surprisingly stout Patriots defense that forced three turnovers, one of which was a fumble by Coleman.

Buffalo needs to start seeing more from the second-round wide receiver, and that starts with the second half of their Week 6 matchup as they attempt to come back against Atlanta on Monday Night Football.
