The Dallas Cowboys haven’t been a stranger to the spotlight during training camp, with the Micah Parsons contract saga dragging on through training camp. With that looming over their shoulders, the players have to block out the noise and prepare for the regular season. Week 1 is fast approaching, and they need to be ready for their first test on primetime.
After a disappointing 2024 season, with a season-ending injury to QB Dak Prescott, the Cowboys and their field general will be looking to make a statement.
Dak Prescott’s Health and Week 1 Status
Prescott has a lot to prove entering the 2025 season. In 2023, he finished second in MVP voting, missing out to Ravens QB Lamar Jackson. The Cowboys struggled in 2024 during his absence, and all throughout the season, so it’s time for Dallas to prove it was a fluke.
Prescott has been participating in training camp and looks poised to prove himself on the gridiron, once again. After missing the last nine games of the 2024 season to a partial hamstring avulsion, Prescott should be fully healthy by the time the season rolls around, if not already.
He is set to be back for the season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles. Although Prescott hasn’t suited up for the preseason games, his activity in training camp has given him plenty of reps to prepare for the season.
The former Mississippi State Bulldog is entering his tenth NFL season and is searching for his first Super Bowl appearance. Cowboys fans have put their faith in Prescott to lead them back to the promised land after being unable to win the NFC in 30 years. While often criticized, Prescott has performed well statistically in Dallas.
Barring injury, Dak Prescott will pass Troy Aikman and Tony Romo in completions, yards, and maybe even touchdown passes this season. However, he’ll rank 6th in team history for interceptions.

He has thrown for 31,437 yards, 213 touchdowns, and won 76 of his 122 starts for the Cowboys. His legacy won’t be defined by his counting stats, especially if he delivers a championship back to Dallas. The franchise is desperate to return to the top, and Prescott is responsible for carrying them there.
The Cowboys have a significant problem on their hands, though. Parsons is now offcially going to Green Bay, and not having Parsons on the field is going to hurt their defense mightily. With the Eagles coming to town, the defense will have to be perfect if the Cowboys want any chance at upsetting the defending champs.
Prescott has been itching to get back on the field, and he will likely get his chance against the Eagles. With CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens on the outside, and Javonte Williams out of the backfield, the Cowboys have offensive threats surrounding Prescott.
In what should be an explosive offense, Prescott and the Cowboys have their sights set on shocking the world in Week 1.
