While the Jacksonville Jaguars await their return to the field after their home opener was delayed by lightning, heads were turning early as the offensive game plan unfolded. Despite the preseason hype, 2025 NFL fourth-round draft pick Bhayshul Tuten has yet to receive a touch and is getting outsnapped by fellow seventh-round draft pick LeQuint Allen Jr.
Is Jacksonville Jaguars Rookie RB Bhayshul Tuten Injured?
Despite the preseason hype, Tuten’s only noteworthy moment in the game is a mishandled kickoff. While not much was known about the Jaguars’ backfield behind Travis Etienne Jr., Jacksonville’s seventh-round selection, Allen has been on the field for four snaps, while the former Hokies running back is waiting to get onto the field for an offensive snap.

One of the most popular late-round targets this draft season was Tuten. Fantasy managers knew he wouldn’t do much early, but were excited about the potential for him to emerge in the Jaguars’ ambiguous backfield. Getting carries over Tuten is one thing, but what’s even more surprising is Allen getting the rock before Tank Bigsby could get a chance.
While it is only Week 1, it’s certainly not a great sign that seventh-round rookie Allen is playing ahead of Tuten. This doesn’t preclude the fourth-rounder from eventually emerging in the event Travis Etienne Jr. or Tank Bigsby struggles. But you have to imagine that if Tuten finishes the game with zero offensive snaps, we will see a mass exodus from fantasy rosters.
During his final season at Virginia Tech in 2024, Tuten recorded an above-average 83.4 (B) RB Impact grade. That ranked 29th in the FBS and sixth among ACC backs.
Early on, Etienne dominated what many expected to be a three-headed backfield. Bigsby was the better Jags running back by RB Impact in 2024, recording a 73.7 (C) grade compared to 67.7 (D+) for Etienne.
There’s still plenty of time for Tuten’s fortune to change as the Carolina Panthers and Jaguars await to return to the field after the lightning passes. However, the early signs are not encouraging, and he will have to make the most of every opportunity thrown his way, with Allen already getting carries.
Can the fourth-round rookie compensate for the early snap deficiency, or will he be left towards the bottom of the depth chart without fantasy relevance?
