NFL Insider Reveals Shedeur Sanders ’Extremely Wide Range’ in 2025 Draft Amid Rumors of Potential Freefall

With draft day nearing, Shedeur Sanders' stock remains unpredictable—projected anywhere from top 10 pick to early Day 2 selection.

With the 2025 NFL Draft one week away, team draft boards are being solidified, and prospects are gaining a clearer understanding of their position in the pecking order.

However, former Colorado standout Shedeur Sanders is one prospect whose status remains uncertain.

For some, the quarterback is a lock to be selected in the first round. Some believe he’s a top-10 pick. Others predict Sanders may tumble into the early second round.

Shedeur Sanders Projected Anywhere from Top 10 Pick to Day 2 of the NFL Draft

ESPN senior NFL analyst Adam Schefter believes Sanders has the widest array of potential possibilities of any prospect in this year’s draft. Schefter projects Sanders as a first-round pick but says it can be early or late.

“Right now, it certainly feels like his range, which is a wide range, wider than most players in a draft, is three to 21, and I don’t like the chances of him going nine,” Schefter said on ESPN NFL Live.

There has been speculation that the New York Giants, with pick No. 3, would take a hard look at Sanders. However, the Giants signed veterans Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston in free agency, dampening the theory.

Schefter believes New York will likely pass on the former college star at No. 3.

“Look I think most people believe they’re going to wait,” Schefter said. “But I do want to remind you he does have the pedigree. He is Mel Kiper Jr’s., top-rated quarterback. There have been people this week, not many but a couple, who have pointed out don’t be surprised if the Giants take Shedeur Sanders at three. Do I think it’s happening? It doesn’t sound like it but I don’t think it can be dismissed.”

According to the latest PFSN 2-round mock draft, the Giants will select Sanders’ former teammate and Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter with the third overall pick. The same mock draft has Sanders chosen by the New Orleans Saints as the ninth overall pick.

“I know J-Mac brought up the possibility of the Saints, and that would make a lot of sense,” Schefter said. “The Saints have had the longest drought of not picking a quarterback in the modern era of the common draft and haven’t drafted one in the first round since they took Archie Manning in 1971.

“But the fact of the matter is when you talk to people around the league, I don’t think they believe the Saints are taking Shedeur Sanders. So if the Giants aren’t taking Shedeur at three, and if the Saints aren’t taking Shedeur at nine now, let’s start to think and wonder where Shedeur Sanders will go.”

Sanders’ stock has been fluctuating in recent weeks.

In PFSN’s early April 7-round mock draft, Sanders was projected to open the second round after being selected at No. 33 by the Cleveland Browns.

Over two seasons at Colorado, Sanders threw for 7,364 yards and 64 touchdowns.
