When kickers go out on the field, they want to connect on field goals. But the story coming out about how former New York Giants kicker Younghoe Koo’s missed kick affected a man in Kentucky is, well, just wild.

Koo went out to kick a field goal in a Giants game against the New England Patriots on Dec. 1, 2025. He missed the kick so badly that it sent a man into a laughing frenzy.

NFL World Shares Reactions to Younghoe Koo Kick Story

Ryan Field, lead sports anchor at WABC in New York City, posted on X, “Absolute insane story involving a lifelong Giants fan.”

Field made his comment while reposting a post on X from Ari Meirov, who covers the NFL for The 33rd Team.

NFL Insider Jordan Schultz of The Schultz Report offered a few more details in his own post on X.

Schultz wrote, “A seizure, a brain tumor and a missed field goal: A 59-year-old Kentucky man believes that Younghoe Koo’s missed kick on Monday Night Football last December saved his life. The story of how everything went down is, in a word… INCREDIBLE.”

The Kentucky man laughed so hard at Koo’s ineptness that it triggered a seizure. Once he got to the hospital, doctors discovered that he had a tennis-ball-sized brain tumor.

The tumor was removed, leaving the man to believe that Koo’s missed kick actually saved his life.

Host of Kickin’, Zain, wrote and posted on X, “All this proves is that a Young Hoe can save your life.”

Pat Lane, who is a co-host on Pats Nation Network, offered his thoughts on Koo’s kick and the aftereffects: “Imagine being so bad you accidentally save a guy’s life? Not even the Jets could pull that off”.

Griffin Wong, a content writer for DraftKings, posted on X: “Koo is a true hero.”

Another X creator posted, “I need the Giants to become good again. Just picture this: ‘What if I told you missed kicks would save a franchice *cue Tyler Loop’s miss* and a life *Show the Koo kick*? ESPN 30 for 30 Presents: Wide, Right?'”

New York-based battle rapper Vada Fly had some pointed words about Koo. Fly posted on X, “Younghoe Koo was so a** he saved a life. Glad he’s gone.”

MLFootball’s X account shared a video clip of Koo botching the kick.

The account posted on X, “INSANE STORY … A man in Kentucky laughed so hard at Younghoe Koo’s failed FG attempt that it triggered a seizure, sending him to the hospital, where doctors discovered a tennis-ball-sized brain tumor. The tumor was removed and was deemed not cancerous.”

Koo started his NFL career with the Los Angeles Chargers, then joined the Atlanta Falcons in the 2019 season. He earned a Pro Bowl nomination back in 2020, too.

But the Giants signed him off the Falcons’ practice squad in September 2025. Koo joined the Giants’ active roster in November 2025. A couple of weeks after Koo’s ill-fated kick, the Giants waived him.

At this time, Koo is not on any NFL roster. But his missed kick will not be forgotten at all by that man in Kentucky.
