‘I’m Just Different’ – Travis Hunter Sets Sights on Two-Way NFL Dream

Colorado Buffaloes two-way star Travis Hunter has gotten a lot of media attention over the past year. He won the Heisman Trophy this past season for his excellent play as both a wide receiver and cornerback.

Now he is projected to be a top-five pick in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft. With draft projections expected to ramp up in the coming months, media members are trying to figure out what position Hunter will play in the NFL.

Travis Hunter Explains Why He Thinks He Can Succeed as a Two-Way Player in the NFL

Travis Hunter is attending the 2025 NFL Combine, which started on Thursday. As part of the event, Hunter has a media availability where he must answer questions from the media. He was asked about his future in the NFL and whether he is going to primarily be a wide receiver or cornerback. He spoke about how he has had meetings with teams about playing both positions, so a decision has not been made.

Hunter then went on to say that most people tell him that he cannot play both positions in the NFL. However, he believes he is different from two-way players in the past and can handle the workload.

“You know, there’s some meetings at receiver, there’s some meetings at DB, so it’s still up in the air. They say ain’t nobody ever done it for real the way I do it, but I tell them I’m just different. I’m a different person.”

The general consensus among NFL analysts and draft experts is that Travis Hunter cannot play both positions in the NFL, at least not full time. Most people think he is better off playing cornerback full time and then being given a package of plays to come in as a wide receiver throughout each game.

However, this is all speculation. It is unlikely that fans will have a good idea of what the plans are for Hunter until after the draft. Once Hunter knows what team he is on, he will meet with the coaching staff and make a decision.

It is also important to note that while Hunter is at the NFL Combine, he will not participate in workouts. At his media availability, he told reporters that he would not be participating in workouts. Instead, he will wait to showcase his skills until Colorado’s Pro Day. Hunter is joining teammate QB Shedeur Sanders in this decision.
