Howie Roseman has been with the Philadelphia Eagles since the 2000 NFL season and currently serves as their general manager. He has found a ton of success with the franchise, including winning two Super Bowl rings and twice being named the Executive of the Year.
He has built a reputation for being aggressive in his pursuit of adding players to their roster. This includes adding three players at the 2025 NFL trade deadline, but he recently addressed his rumored interest in acquiring Myles Garrett and Micah Parsons.
Howie Roseman Discusses Rumored Interest in Micah Parsons and Myles Garrett
Roseman recently spoke with the media following the conclusion of the 2025 NFL trade deadline. He gave an explanation for the rumored reports of his interest in Garrett and Parsons, two of the best edge players in the league.
“When there’s opportunities to be aggressive for the right players, we’re not going to sit on our hands. You don’t have great success without taking great risks … We can’t be afraid to fail. I think a lot of times for you to get to the top, you have to be willing to take chances that may look controversial at times … I won’t live with regret,” stated Roseman.
Parsons was traded by the Dallas Cowboys to the Green Bay Packers prior to the start of the season. Garrett was rumored to be potentially available in a trade this year, but he remained with the struggling Cleveland Browns.
While Roseman didn’t acquire either of them, he did make three significant moves at the deadline to improve the Eagles’ defense. He brought in two cornerbacks in Jaire Alexander and Michael Carter II, as well as an edge rusher in Jaelan Phillips.
Phillips currently ranks 40th among edge rushers in PFSN’s Impact Rankings, compared to Garrett being the top-ranked player and Parsons ranking 13th. This demonstrates that he isn’t nearly as valuable as Roseman’s other rumored interests, but Phillips should still provide an upgrade for their pass-rush.
The Eagles sent a 2026 third-round draft pick back to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for Phillips. Potential moves for Garrett or Parsons would have been much more expensive, so this may have had an impact on their decision.
The Packers sent two first-rounders and defensive tackle Kenny Clark to the Cowboys to acquire Parsons this year. Garrett likely would have commanded a similar trade package, if not more. Phillips was a cheaper alternative that still provides them with a desired upgrade on the edge of their defense.
