Nick Sirianni’s road to becoming only the second Philadelphia Eagles head coach to win the Super Bowl has been far from smooth. His job security was often a hot topic in Philadelphia, and he was constantly criticized this season for his playing style.
But whatever his style was, Sirianni continued to win, culminating the season with a Super Bowl victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in New Orleans.
Nick Sirianni Reveals Process Behind ‘Boring’ and ‘Dominating’ Run to Super Bowl Win
Sirianni’s Eagles thrashed the Chiefs 40-22 to win their second Super Bowl championship, finishing the season 16-1 after a Week 5 bye and 2-2 start.
Sirianni spilled the beans about Philly’s dominant season in a postgame interview with PFSN and other reporters, and said the team was glued together through the entire season.
“We had great OTAs and training camp. We were developing as a team, and just because the outside world tells you to feel a certain way, doesn’t mean that we were feeling that way.”
Two seasons ago, the Eagles lost in a thriller Super Bowl after the Chiefs outscored them 24-11 in the second half.
However, they took a mammoth 24-point lead before halftime in Super Bowl 59 and cruised to victory in the second half despite some fight from Patrick Mahomes and Co.

Explaining what changed for the Eagles between the two seasons, Sirianni highlighted his “boring” method of focusing on one game at a time and getting better after each.
“We knew we had a special team. We knew we had a group of guys that could do special things, but it was going to take day-in and day-out work. It was just putting your head down and working and saying, ‘How are we going to put ourselves in the best position to win that Cleveland game.’
“It wasn’t like, ‘Hey, how are we going to get to 6-2.’ It was, ‘How are we going to win this game.’ Then, it was going to be, ‘How do we win the next game.’ It’s boring, but it’s truly just trying to get a little bit better each day. But that’s the thing that you’ll remember, is the daily grind of emptying the tank every week to try to win each week.”
“We just doubled down on the things we knew to be true. We knew we had special players, we knew we had special coaches, we knew we had a special front office and special people in the building and our goal was to do it together and stick together and go.”
Sirianni was in “happy tears” after lifting his first Super Bowl championship — the sky is the limit for the Eagles and the 43-year-old.
