When the Miami Dolphins learned that wide receiver Tyreek Hill had suffered a significant injury, thoughts and prayers were sent his way.
The Dolphins now have to move forward without “Cheetah” hitting the field and making clutch catches. He had an awesome night on Monday night against the New York Jets, catching six passes for 67 yards. Hill even flashed some of his well-known speed after making catches and turning upfield. Now, the concerns are around his injury and the recovery process.
How Long Will Tyreek Hill Be Out Of Action?
After the game, Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel confirmed that Hill has indeed dislocated his knee. “Mike McDaniel confirms Tyreek Hill dislocated his knee and will remain in the hospital overnight,” wrote Dolphins reporter Marcel Louis-Jacques. “Said Hill’s upbeat attitude immediately after the injury made a “giant” impact on the team psychologically Hill cracked jokes with his teammates and was “inspiring”.”
On Tuesday, NFL insider Adam Schefter provided another concerning update on Hill. “In addition to dislocating his knee, Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill also tore multiple ligaments in his knee, including his ACL, per sources,” he wrote. “Hill remains hospitalized and will undergo surgery today.”
NFL insider Ian Rapoport also gave an update on Hill’s potential return timeline. “With surgery today, it’s possible that Tyreek Hill will undergo additional surgeries,” Rapoport said. “There is no guarantee he’ll be ready for 2026. None of his 2026 salary is guaranteed now, but $11M (of $29.9M) becomes fully guaranteed if he’s on the roster in March, plus a $5M roster bonus.”
Several well-known medical experts headed to X and posted thoughts on Hill’s immediate future. Dr. Jesse Morse posted a four-minute video offering his insights into the Hill recovery period.

Also, Dr. David J. Chao, who appears on NFL Network shows and SiriusXM NFL Channel broadcasts, had his own thoughts on Hill’s future after leaving the game.

Chao also posted another video on X, in which he further described Hill’s immediate future. “Tyreek Hill suffered a severe knee dislocation, which is considered a true orthopedic emergency,” Chao wrote.
“This type of injury can damage the artery and stretch the nerve — hopefully that is not the case here. That risk is why he was immediately taken to the hospital.”

Hill’s recovery period will be long, and he will miss the rest of the season. The Dolphins will ensure he gets the best care possible now and while rehabbing his knee injury.
NFL reporter James Palmer also offered additional insights on what Hill faces going forward. On Monday night, Palmer responded to a previous post on X by NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.
“Ligament damage as well as other concerns for the knee and leg,” Palmer wrote. “Hence why the immediate move to get Tyreek Hill in an ambulance and to a hospital. Hoping for the best for Hill.”
Here’s wishing Hill the best now and into the future.
