The Kansas City Chiefs are gearing up for another Super Bowl run, and the excitement is building as the season opener creeps closer. But for all the buzz around Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid’s high-powered offense, a major question lingers: Is Hollywood Brown ready to go?
Will Hollywood Brown Be Ready for the Chiefs’ Season Opener?
The Chiefs brought Brown to be the spark, the speedster who could provide Mahomes with a genuine vertical threat by taking the top off a defense. His journey to this point, however, has not been simple. Brown’s 2024 season was ruined before it even started.
In August 2024, he dislocated his sternoclavicular joint after an awkward hit, which required surgery and kept him sidelined for most of the season. Although he managed to get on the field during the playoffs, he clearly wasn’t himself. The explosiveness that defined his game just wasn’t there yet.
If this is the play where Hollywood Brown got injured, looks like a potential Left AC sprain as he lands on that side.
Hopefully it’s just that and minor.

This summer was supposed to be different. Brown rehabbed, reset, and returned to Kansas City with fresh energy. The Chiefs signed him to a one-year deal, placing their faith in him as the missing piece in a receiving corps with question marks around Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy.
But then, another setback struck. In July, Brown went down with an ankle injury during training camp. He had to be carted off the field. Though the injury was not considered serious, it was enough to keep him sidelined throughout the preseason.
The timing could not have been more frustrating for a player eager to prove he can stay healthy and make an impact. Brown’s absence left Chiefs fans wondering if this was the start of another lost season for the talented wideout.
What Does Brown’s Return to Practice Mean for the 2025 Season?
Nevertheless, there is now reason for hope. According to reports from Kansas City, Brown recently returned to practice, a much-needed positive development. The Chiefs know what he can contribute when healthy, and they are not rushing him back. His ability to stretch the field changes how defenses play Mahomes, which opens things up for Travis Kelce and the younger receivers.

The main question is whether he will be ready by Week 1. Brown’s body has endured a lot over the past couple of years. While the ankle injury is not expected to linger like past issues, the Chiefs want to ensure he is truly 100 percent before throwing him into game action.
For now, uncertainty remains about Brown’s availability for the season opener. However, even if he is not fit to start, he will have plenty of opportunities to regain his old form and prove he can still compete at the highest level.
